Blue Jays re-signed C Michael Nickeas to a minor league contract. He received an invite to spring training. Nickeas appeared in a single game with the Blue Jays this season in his first tour of duty with the organization. The 30-year-old slashed only .166/.255/.251 for Triple-A Buffalo. He'll be back with the Bisons in 2014.

Blue Jays acquired C Michael Nickeas from the Mets in the seven-player R.A. Dickey trade. Nickeas had a weak .174/.242/.229 batting line in 122 plate appearances this past season with New York. The 29-year-old will function as depth for the Blue Jays.

Mike Nickeas has elected to become a free agent. Nickeas was outrighted off the Mets' 40-man roster last week and turned down an assignment to Triple-A Buffalo. He will look to join up with a new organization.

Nickeas batted just .174/.242/.229 with one home run, 13 RBI and a .471 OPS in 122 plate appearances with the Mets this season and is unlikely to get significant playing time in the majors again in the near future.
