Minor is experiencing a drop in velocity on all four of his pitches over his first two starts, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pitching during this odd and shortened season has been a challenge for all starters, and Minor is no different. Minor's fastball dropped from an average of 92.5 to 90.2 MPH over the first two starts. The left-hander said he feels a little "tight" and not as loose as he normally feels when pitching. "I think it's a mobility thing, a stretching-out thing," Minor said. "I'm hoping, over time, a couple of starts, it will start going back up. Sometimes, the balls I throw by guys are being fouled off or are jam-shot singles or hard hits. I think my stuff doesn't do as well with the lower velocity. I still have the ability to get guys out. I just have to pitch better." Minor has stumbled out of the gate in 2020, losing both of his starts and posting a 5.91 ERA.

Minor (0-2) took the loss Friday versus the Giants, allowing six runs on nine hits and two walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Minor cruised through four innings, but the Giants' bats came to life in the fifth and sixth, which put him in position to take the loss. The southpaw now has a 5.91 ERA and 1.41 WHIP through 10.2 innings after the poor outing. He'll try to get back on track in Oakland on Thursday.

Minor (0-1) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and one walk while striking out six over five innings in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Minor wasn't at his best and needed 98 pitches, but the left-hander kept the Rangers in position to win. Unfortunately, they left 12 men on base while going 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position. The Texas offense has been weak through the first two games at the new Globe Life Field, scoring three runs on 11 hits in 18 innings.

Minor worked four innings and allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five in an intrasquad game Thursday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
In response to questions about how he pitched, Minor's two-word response was "very poorly," which is a natural reaction after he walked three batters in one inning. That's unlike Minor, who typically averages under three walks per nine innings. He was not pleased with his breaking stuff and said he kept missing when trying to pitch up in the zone. He'll get two more chances during camp to work out Thursday's issues before he's ready to take the mound in a regular-season game July 25.

Minor threw a simulated game Saturday, T.R Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Minor had been slated to throw a sim game Friday, but that was delayed pending the results of his intake testing. Once he passed that hurdle, the left-hander tossed four innings and 77 pitches (47 strikes). Texas manager Chris Woodward reported Minor was pleased with the workout and is in a good place as he ramps up to the start of the regular season.

Minor was scheduled to pitch four innings in a workout Friday but instead was held out, with the Rangers still awaiting his COVID-19 test results, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Part of the uncertainty of this whole process is wondering whether this is just a normal delay, or if there's something wrong. The Rangers aren't permitted to elaborate about that without the consent of the player. The end result here is that this is a "... bit of a setback ..." for Minor, as per manager Chris Woodward, because of the compact training schedule.

Minor allowed two hits and struck out three over 4.2 scoreless innings in Tuesday's spring game against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Minor extended his scoreless run to 7.2 innings over two spring starts. Tuesday's effort was more impressive than the first appearance because he faced the White Sox's projected regulars.

Minor allowed two walks and struck out two over three scoreless innings in Thursday's spring game against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't Arizona's best possible lineup, but the results are encouraging for Minor, who had been held back due to a battle with a sore hamstring. He needed just 38 pitches to get through his three innings, and the hamstring was not a bother. The left-hander will get at least more three spring starts in preparation for the regular season.

Minor threw a 40-pitch live batting practice session Tuesday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The session went without issue, but Sullivan also reported that Minor has been receiving treatment for a sore hamstring. The issue doesn't appear to be a major concern at the moment. If it were, the Rangers wouldn't risk Minor aggravating it. "He looked really good," pitching coach Julio Rangel said. "His delivery was clean and in-sync, and his pitches were good. Everything was there."

Minor (14-10) allowed five earned runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out nine across 8.2 innings to earn the win Thursday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The Rangers stretched Minor out to 126 pitches to allow him to reach 200 punchouts for the season, which he accomplished by striking out the final batter he faced. Though he reached a milestone, Minor has allowed 18 earned runs across 18.2 frames to close the season. Even with those struggles, he'll end 2019 with a 3.59 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 208.1 innings.
