Kickham was traded to Seattle on Wednesday in exchange for pitcher Lars Huijer, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports. Given that he was just designated for assignment and Huijer carries an extremely modest profile, this trade looks to be a low-impact transaction with minimal significance for both sides.

Kickham has been designated for assignment to make room for Chris Denorfia, the Cubs announced. It's not exactly a surprise the Cubs would demote a pitcher with a 10.98 career ERA, and Kickham wasn't strong in the minors before his debut either. The Cubs just recently picked up the 26-year-old, so they likely still see at least some value in Kickham they can develop him in their system.

Kickham was claimed off waivers by the Cubs on Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News reports. Kickham spent the bulk of last season at Triple-A with the Giants organization, going 8-8 with a 4.43 ERA in 27 starts. He appeared in two games for the Giants but struggled mightily, allowing five earned runs and eight hits over just 2.0 total innings.

Kickham will be called up from Triple-A Fresno on Monday, the San Jose Mercury News reports. Kickham appeared in 12 games for the Giants last season but didn't experience much success, sporting a 10.16 ERA with 32 earned runs in 28.1 innings. He's had a solid year at Triple-A in 2014, going 8-9 with a 4.43 ERA across 148.1 innings.
