Diamondbacks re-signed 1B Mike Jacobs to a minor league contract. The 33-year-old slugger performed well after signing with the D'Backs midway through the 2013 season, slashing .304/.365/.520 with 18 homers and 65 RBI in 82 games at Triple-A Reno in the hitter-friendly PCL. He'll presumably head to spring training with a chance to compete for a reserve role.

Diamondbacks signed 1B Mike Jacobs to a minor league contract. Jacobs latched on with the Mariners over the winter, but was released at the end of spring training and was playing in the Mexican League. The 32-year-old had 23 plate appearances with the Diamondbacks last season and figures to serve as organizational depth.

Mariners released 1B Mike Jacobs. Jacobs batted .286/.310/.536 in 17 games this spring as a non-roster invite. He will look to continue his career with another team as organizational depth.

Mariners signed 1B Mike Jacobs to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Jacobs made only 23 plate appearances last year in the major leagues but posted a decent .279/.362/.486 slash line for Triple-A Reno -- an affiliate of the Diamondbacks. He'll serve as roster depth in 2013 with Seattle.

Diamondbacks sent 1B Mike Jacobs outright to Triple-A Reno. Jacobs hit .211/.348/.263 in September for the D'Backs in his first appearance in the big leagues since 2010. The 32-year-old is merely organizational depth.

Diamondbacks purchased the contract of 1B Mike Jacobs from Triple-A Reno. Jacobs, who will turn 32 next month, hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2010 but had a nice .279/.362/.486 batting line with 18 homers over 378 plate appearances for Reno this season. He could get a few pinch-hitting chances down the stretch.

Diamondbacks signed 1B Mike Jacobs to a minor league contract. Jacobs was given his release by the Rockies last August after becoming the first athlete in North American pro sports to test positive for human growth hormone. The 31-year-old has a .253/.313/.475 batting line and 100 home runs over parts of six seasons in the major leagues.

Rockies released 1B Mike Jacobs. Jacobs was given his release after receiving a 50-game suspension for testing positive for human growth hormone. The 30-year-old first baseman signed a minor league contract with the Rockies last December and was batting .298/.376/.534 with 23 homers, 97 RBI and a .910 OPS over 495 plate appearances with Triple-A Colorado Springs this season. He hopes to play again somewhere in 2012.
