The Twins recalled Gasper from Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Minnesota optioned Gasper to Triple-A less than a week ago, but he'll be eligible to rejoin the big club after super-utility man Willi Castro (oblique) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. Gasper will serve as an emergency No. 3 catcher and will provide depth at three infield spots as well as left field, but he's unlikely to be in store for regular playing time after going 2-for-18 at the plate over 10 games in his initial stint with the Twins this season.

The Twins optioned Gasper to Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gasper will head back to the minors even with Christian Vazquez working through a right hand injury, leaving Ryan Jeffers as the only healthy catcher currently on the Twins' roster. Gasper has appeared in 10 major-league games for Minnesota this season, going 2-for-18 with four walks and one run scored in 22 plate appearances.

Gasper got his first major league hit while going 1-for-3 in Saturday's loss against St. Louis. He went 0-for-18 in 13 games with the Red Sox last season.
EDGE Analysis
Gasper was a surprise starter at DH against a right-handed pitcher, but Twins manager Rocco Baldelli was likely just getting some bench players work early in the season. Gasper looked healthy after suffering a left ankle laceration that required six stitches last week. His start also shows the Twins have confidence in him after he posted a .289/.404/.395 slash line this spring.

Gasper said that he's fine after suffering a left ankle laceration in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox, and noted Monday that he has been told he made the Twins' Opening Day roster, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gasper received six stitches to seal the cut, which he suffered when he was spiked by teammate Brandon Winokur while attempting to field a groundball. The laceration is not expected to hinder him moving forward, and Gasper has earned a spot on the Opening Day roster after slashing .289/.404/.395 this spring. The switch hitter is capable of handling first base, second base and catcher.

The 29-year-old collided with teammate Brandon Winokur while attempting to field a groundball and appeared to catch a spike. Gasper was acquired from the Red Sox in December and hit well during spring training with a .289/.404/.395 slash line in 47 plate appearances.

Gasper is hitting .350 (7-for-20) with a home run in seven games this spring.
EDGE Analysis
He's a long shot to make the roster as a utility player but he's drawing raves from management and could be an option if there's an injury among the utility players. Gasper has been playing mostly second base this spring but is also a catcher and has played first base. He's not a plus defender behind the plate but his versatility could see him called up from Triple-A at some point this summer. He hit .328/.439/.970 with 12 home runs between Double-A and Triple-A last season.

The Twins acquired Gasper from the Red Sox in exchange for Jovani Moran on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gasper played in his first 13 big-league games during 2024 but spent most of the year with Triple-A Worcester. The backstop slashed .367/.471/.592 with eight home runs and 36 RBI across 204 plate appearances in what was his best minor-league campaign yet. However, he went hitless over 23 plate appearances with the Red Sox while also logging four walks, one hit-by-pitch and one run.

Gasper went 0-for-2 with a walk in Sunday's 3-1 win over Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
Gasper batted out of the eight-hole as Boston's designated hitter in Sunday's season finale, his first start since Aug. 29. Gasper showcased his vaunted plate discipline in the fourth, working a seven-pitch walk after falling behind 0-2 to Rays starter Ryan Pepiot. While he won't be confused for Mickey Mantle anytime soon, Gasper could find himself in the mix at catcher behind Connor Wong in 2025 with Danny Jansen hitting free agency. The switch-hitting Gasper finishes his rookie season 0-for-18 with four walks and one hit by pitch, adding one run scored in 13 games.

EDGE Analysis
Gasper will serve as the roster replacement for Rafael Devers (shoulder), who landed on the 10-day injured list. The former has spent the majority of the season in the minors, slashing an impressive .328/.439/.531 with 12 homers and 58 RBI across 380 plate appearances between Double-A and Triple-A, though he doesn't project to see much playing time while in Boston.

EDGE Analysis
Gasper will give way to Trevor Story (shoulder) on the active roster as Story returns from the 60-day injured list. Gasper failed to log a hit in 16 plate appearances with the Red Sox but holds a 1.179 OPS at Triple-A.
