Saunders was prematurely lifted from Thursday's game against the Rangers with tightness in his left groin, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Saunders was 1-for-2 before being replaced in the sixth inning by Ty Kelly. His status should be updated once he is able to be further evaluated by the Phillies' medical staff, but consider him day-to-day until then.

Saunders went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's loss to Seattle.
EDGE Analysis
It was only Saunders' third home run of the season, but it is noteworthy as it came off of southpaw Ariel Miranda. Manager Pete Mackanin opted to keep him in the lineup against the lefty, and was rewarded. Saunders is now slashing .245/.298/.396 on the season.

Saunders is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Cubs, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Pete Mackanin hasn't hesitated to hold Saunders out of the lineup against southpaws on multiple occasions this season, but it's more surprising the outfielder finds himself on the bench Wednesday with right-hander Jake Arrieta on the hill for the opposition. It's likely Mackanin just wanted to give a starting opportunity to the lightly-used Daniel Nava, who is slashing an impressive .333/.489/.576 in limited action this season. Despite Nava's achievements, Saunders still seems to have a steady grasp on a regular role in the outfield, so his fantasy owners shouldn't be overly concerned with his benching Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis
Apparently Saunders is feeling closer to 100 percent after missing a start Thursday due to illness. Bartolo Colon, Friday's starter for Atlanta, has given Saunders fits in the past, holding the outfielder to just two hits (both singles) in 16 career at-bats.

Manager Pete Mackanin said he is not platooning Saunders even though the outfielder was on the bench Wednesday against a lefty, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mackanin said Saunders was out of the lineup because he needed to get Aaron Altherr some at-bats. Saunders did pinch hit in Wednesday's game, but struck out leaving two runners stranded on base. He should be back in right field Thursday.
