Manager Pete Mackanin said he is not platooning Saunders even though the outfielder was on the bench Wednesday against a lefty, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.

Mackanin said Saunders was out of the lineup because he needed to get Aaron Altherr some at-bats. Saunders did pinch hit in Wednesday's game, but struck out leaving two runners stranded on base. He should be back in right field Thursday.
