Pineda didn't factor into the decision against the Rays on Friday despite striking out seven over 4.2 innings, during which he gave up two earned runs on six hits and two walks.
EDGE Analysis
Both runs came on solo homers in back-to-back at-bats in the fourth, with Logan Morrison blasting a 432-foot shot to right and Steven Souza, Jr. following up with a 358-foot blast to left. Pineda missed plenty of bats otherwise, notching an impressive 18 swinging strikes over his 77 pitches. The righty has failed to reach the fifth inning in either of his last two starts due to some elevated pitch counts, but has actually only surrendered four earned runs over that span. He was actually worse in the previous pair of trips to the mound, giving up five earned runs apiece against the Mariners and Royals to close out August. He'll look for his first victory since Aug. 5 when he takes on the Dodgers next Wednesday.

Pineda (6-11) needed 87 pitches to get through four innings Sunday as he allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four, coming away with a no-decision in a 5-2 win over the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
It was his shortest outing since he got chased after 3.2 innings in Tampa Bay on May 28 but Pineda has managed to pitch six innings just three times in his last six starts, posting a shaky 5.01 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 32.1 innings over that stretch. He'll next take the mound at home Friday against those same Rays.

Pineda (6-11) allowed five runs on seven hits despite eight strikeouts in a loss Monday to the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
This start serves as a microcosm for Pineda's season. He owns a brilliant 168:40 K:BB in 147.2 innings, but his inability to keep runners off the bases (158 hits allowed) has cancelled out his strikeout mastery. He was partially let down by his bullpen Monday night -- he allowed two baserunners to open the ninth, who were promptly allowed to score by reliever Blake Parker. Still, Pineda's struggles with hits (9.6 H/9) and home runs (1.3 HR/9) have kept him from reaching his potential this season.

Pineda will make his next start Monday against the Royals, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pineda was initially slated to start Sunday's series finale against the Orioles, but the Yankees have opted to swap him with C.C. Sabathia. So it will now be Sabathia on the hill Sunday, while Pineda takes the mound for Monday's series-opener in Kansas City.

Pineda allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Monday against Seattle.
EDGE Analysis
This marks the ninth time this season Pineda has allowed five runs or more in just 25 starts. When he is taking such beatings in over a third of his starts, it doesn't matter that Pineda is one of the nastiest pitchers in the game. Pineda induced 13 swinging strikes in 83 pitches and it wasn't enough to keep runs off the board. Similarly, Pineda's 160 strikeouts in just 141.2 innings has resulted in just a 5.02 ERA for him this season, as he has been too inconsistent to make his big-time stuff count.

Pineda limited the Blue Jays to just four hits without a run in five innings Tuesday, striking out two and walking none before having his night cut short by a 44-minute rain delay and watching the bullpen blow a 6-0 lead.
EDGE Analysis
Pineda has found success pitching to contact more in his last two starts, striking out just five while giving up only two runs over 11 innings. He was really cruising before the rain came, and would've been able to pitch deep into the game after needing just 68 pitches to get through five frames. This no-decision was a terribly unlucky result considering how good Pineda was looking, and just how bad the bullpen had to be to deny him a win. The right-hander should be well-rested for Monday's start in Seattle given that he'll be working on an extra day of rest following a shortened outing.

Pineda (6-10) lasted six innings, allowing two runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out three in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Pineda was able to manage a quality start after failing to do so in his previous two outings. The 27-year-old flamethrower has been disappointing in terms of wins and ERA, but his strikeout and walk rates are superb. If he could just somehow keep the ball in the yard (1.44 HR/9), he'd be worth starting in most leagues.

Pineda (6-10) gave up four earned runs on six hits and a walk over six innings in Friday's 13-7 victory over the Indians. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
He had the luxury of being staked to a large lead, as the Yankees jumped out to a 6-0 advantage over the Indians after just three frames. Pineda was also impressively efficient, throwing 69 of 97 pitches for strikes, notching first-pitch strikes on 16 of 23 batters and inducing 11 swinging strikes overall. He's pitched much better from early June onward after starting off the season 2-6, as he's managed a 4-4 record and lowered his ERA from 6.92 to 5.17 since that point. He'll take on the Red Sox next Thursday at Fenway.

Pineda (5-10) gave up five runs on six hits and four walks over six innings in Sunday's loss to the Rays, striking out eight.
EDGE Analysis
He cruised through the first three innings before Tampa started to tee off on him. Pineda's now been tagged with a five-spot in three of five starts in July, but his 5.13 ERA is actually marginally lower than it was when the month began, which tells you what kind of season he's been having. He'll try to right the ship Friday at home against the Indians.

Pineda (5-9) allowed just one run on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over seven innings in a win Monday over the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Pineda recorded eight or more strikeouts for the sixth time in his past eight starts. He owns a stellar 64:14 K:BB over just 47.1 innings in that stretch to go with a 3.42 ERA. Home runs are still a problem -- including George Springer's solo shot Monday night, he has now allowed seven in those eight starts -- but he is showing improvement after a dreadful start to the season.
