Pineda allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six across five innings, but received no decision Saturday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
After the Yankees came up with a five-run sixth inning, it appeared as if Pineda had a great chance at a victory, but the bullpen squandered the lead in the bottom of the frame. After struggling in the season opener, he's allowed just six runs in 19.2 innings of work to lower his ERA to 3.86, and if he can continue this trend, his fantasy value will quickly be on the rise. He'll make his next start Friday against the Orioles.

Pineda (2-1) allowed two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six batters over seven innings during Sunday's win over St. Louis.
EDGE Analysis
After a tough debut to the 2017 campaign against Tampa Bay, Pineda has turned in two strong outings with 17 punchouts through 14.2 innings and just three runs allowed. It's easy to forget that Pineda is just 28, and his career trajectory still has room to trend up. He'll look to keep the impressive run going on the road against the Pirates on Saturday.

Pineda (1-1) tossed 7.2 innings of one-run ball in Tuesday's win over the Rays, allowing just two hits and striking out 11 with no walks.
EDGE Analysis
Pineda was absolutely dominant in this one and took a perfect game bid into the seventh inning before Evan Longoria doubled to left. He finished the inning and nearly made it through the eighth, but Logan Morrison's home run to spoil the shutout and an elevated pitch count caused his removal. Pineda endured a poor outing in his first start in which he lasted just 3.2 innings, so this excellent performance was a welcome sign for the Yankees and fantasy owners alike. He will take a 3.97 ERA and a 17:0 K:BB into Saturday's start against the Cardinals.

Pineda (0-1) allowed four runs on eight hits while striking out six in 3.2 innings during Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
He exited the game with runners on first and second having thrown 71 pitches already, but Tom Layne came on to get Corey Dickerson to pop out and save further damage to Pineda's line. The story for the 28-year-old was the same as it's been throughout his career, as he racks up strikeouts but can't avoid the big hit or the big inning. Pineda will get another shot at Tampa Bay on Monday, this time back home in Yankee Stadium.

Pineda has been tabbed as the third starter, set to make his first start April 5 against the Rays, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Joe Girardi expressed his desire to not stack same-handed pitchers back-to-back if possible, so southpaw CC Sabathia was slotted in second ahead of Pineda to get a lefty following ace Masahiro Tanaka. At his most dominant, Pineda has shown flashes of being a top-tier pitcher, something he proved while working to 10.6 K/9 last season. The problem is that he's been unable to harness that ability on a consistent basis, as he posted a career-worst 4.82 ERA in 2016 and struggled keeping the ball in the yard. The potential is there, but at some point it may prove too late for the 28-year-old to fully take advantage of it.

Pineda agreed to a one-year, $7.4 million deal with the Yankees on Friday, avoiding arbitration, FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coming off a year in which he posted a 27.4 percent strikeout rate, which was eighth best among qualified starters, Pineda earned a $3.1 million raise over what he made in 2016. While the strikeouts are nice, his 4.82 ERA and 1.35 WHIP tell a different story. If he can cut down on the hard contact (1.38 HR/9, .339 BABIP), he could be a very valuable fantasy starter, but he is now coming off back-to-back seasons where the production was much worse than the peripherals.

Pineda (6-12) gave up five earned runs on six hits and three walks over 4.1 innings in Friday's 8-1 loss to the Orioles. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The hard-throwing righty was lit up over the fourth and fifth innings, giving up a two-RBI double to Jonathan Schoop and homers to Adam Jones and Mark Trumbo, with the latter's two-run blast in the fifth chasing Pineda from the game. The 27-year-old had been very solid over his previous four starts-- giving up just five earned runs over the 23.2 innings covering that span-- so Friday's results represented a definite regression. Pineda wraps up a disappointing 2016 with a career-high 12 losses, 1.35 WHIP and 4.82 ERA.

Pineda (6-11) allowed just one run on three hits and a walk over 5.2 innings while striking out seven Sunday, but came away with a no-decision in a 4-3 loss to the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Despite having little to show for it, he's been very effective in September, posting a 2.66 ERA and 34:10 K:BB in 23.2 innings across five starts. Pineda's last decision, a loss, came on Aug. 29, while he last recorded a victory all the way back on Aug. 5. He'll get one more shot at another win at home Friday against the Orioles.

Pineda (6-11) pitched 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out 11 Rays in Tuesday's no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
Tuesday marked Pineda's 12th game this season with at least eight strikeouts, the most by a Yankee right-hander since Mike Mussina in 2003. He also became the first in team history with at least 11 strikeouts in 5.1 innings or fewer. Despite the 27-year-old's somewhat historic outing, Pineda still remains winless in his last eight starts dating back to Aug. 5. On the bright side, he did push his ERA back down to 4.89, tying his season-best mark from Aug. 16. Pineda will make his next start in Toronto on Sunday.

Pineda threw four shutout innings against the Dodgers on Wednesday before a pair of rain delays ended his night. He gave up two hits, two walks, and struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Pineda was matching Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw in the early innings, but a pair of rain delays cut his start short after 82 pitches. Pineda has now failed to finish the fifth inning in each of his last three starts, and has thrown seven innings only twice all season in 29 starts. Pineda lowered his ERA to 4.94 with the start, and raised his strikeout total to 184. He'll hope to go deeper into the game when he next takes the hill against the Rays on Tuesday.
