Lorenzen allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out six in five innings Tuesday against the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The only loud contact allowed was a solo home run off the bat of Colson Montgomery in the second inning. Lorenzen was otherwise able to cruise through five frames but couldn't record an out after coming back out for the sixth, leading to three more runs charged against him. Lorenzen has now allowed eight runs (seven earned) on 16 hits over his last two starts, though he has racked up six strikeouts on both occasions, which is one below his season high. Lorenzen has just one win over his last eight starts and will look to change that next week against the Angels.

Lorenzen didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Rangers, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits and a walk across 4.1 innings. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
While Lorenzen's final line could've looked much worse, the right-hander still failed to make it through the fifth inning after throwing 89 pitches. Overall, it was a step backwards for Lorenzen, after he held the White Sox scoreless across four innings in his last outing, his first following a month-long stint on the IL. Lorenzen sports a 4.50 ERA through 20 starts (108 innings) this season with a 1.34 WHIP and 94:32 K:BB.

Lorenzen did not factor into Saturday's decision against the White Sox, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out three across four scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Lorenzen was activated from the 15-day IL ahead of Saturday's start after fully recovering from a strained left oblique. Though he kept the White Sox off the board in his first outing since July 6, he ran his pitch count up to 82 (44 strikes), which necessitated his removal after four frames of work. Lorenzen should get longer leash for his next start, which is slated for next week at home against the Rangers.

The Royals activated Lorenzen (oblique) from the 15-day injured list to start Saturday's game against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Lorenzen will make his return from a strained left oblique Saturday to face the White Sox. Lorenzen should handle a full workload after throwing 85 pitches in his most recent rehab start. The 33-year-old posted a 4.61 ERA in 99.2 innings before sustaining the injury, and he yielded seven runs in 8.2 innings for Double-A Northwest Arkansas during his rehab assignment. Luinder Avila was optioned to Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Wednesday that Lorenzen (oblique) will rejoin the rotation Saturday versus the White Sox, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Out since mid-July with a left oblique strain, Lorenzen built up to 85 pitches in his last rehab start, so he should be ready for a normal workload Saturday. Lorenzen has posted a 4.61 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 99.2 innings for the Royals this season. Bailey Falter has been moved to the bullpen to make room for Lorenzen in the rotation.

Lorenzen (oblique) struck out four batters and allowed three earned runs on seven hits and three walks over 5.2 innings Sunday in a rehab start with Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
EDGE Analysis
Lorenzen made his second rehab start as he works back from a left oblique strain, going deeper into the outing Sunday than in his first appearance. Before landing on the injured list July 14, the right-hander was unspectacular in 18 starts for the Royals, posting a 4.61 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 99.2 innings. While Cole Ragans (shoulder) is still in the early stages of mound work during his rehab, the trade deadline acquisitions of Bailey Falter and Ryan Bergert have added competition to the rotation ahead of Lorenzen's expected return in the near future.

Lorenzen (oblique) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks over three innings Tuesday with Double-A Northwest Arkansas. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Lorenzen struggled in his first rehab outing Tuesday, surrendering two home runs -- including one to top prospect Walker Jenkins -- as he works his way back from a left oblique strain. Prior to the injury, the veteran had been serviceable but unspectacular, compiling a 4.61 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 99.2 innings in 18 starts. The Royals' rotation remains unsettled with Kris Bubic (shoulder) out for the year and Cole Ragans (shoulder) also sidelined, leading to the recent additions of Bailey Falter and Ryan Bergert, both of whom have already made their team debuts. Lorenzen's role once he's fully healthy will be an interesting storyline to track.

Lorenzen (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Arkansas on Tuesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lorenzen landed on the 15-day injured list prior to the All-Star break due to an oblique strain. He was cleared to throw bullpen sessions last week, and he is ready to take the next step in his throwing program by embarking on a rehab assignment. Lorenzen posted a 4.61 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 85:29 K:BB across 99.2 innings prior to his injury.

Lorenzen (oblique) faced five batters in a live batting practice session Thursday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Assuming Lorenzen experienced no complications in his recovery from a left oblique strain coming out of the workout, he's expected to begin a rehab assignment at some point during the upcoming week. Lorenzen has been on the shelf since July 14, and given the relative brevity of his absence, he could be ready to rejoin the Kansas City rotation after just one rehab start.

Lorenzen (oblique) completed a bullpen session over the weekend and is expected to make one or two rehab starts before returning from the 15-day injured list, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lorenzen is making good progress in his recovery from the left oblique strain that forced him to the IL on July 14, but he'll need more than the minimum 15 days to move past the issue and get stretched back out for starting duty. Before landing on the shelf, Lorenzen produced a 5-8 record, 4.61 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 85:29 K:BB in 99.2 innings over his 18 starts with Kansas City.
