Conforto is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Braves, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.

It looked like a great matchup on paper with the Mets facing righty Julio Teheran, but they apparently want to get Jose Bautista some at-bats, as he is starting in left field and batting him third. Conforto is hitting .327/.421/.531 with three home runs over his last 49 at-bats.

EDGE Analysis

Conforto was one of the few bright spots for the Mets on Saturday, as he drove his sixth home run of the season well over the right field wall in the third inning. He has now homered in consecutive games, the first time he has accomplished that this season. While he continues to struggle to hit for average, Conforto does have five home runs for the month, giving some hope that he can go on a hot stretch -- or several -- over the course of the season.

Conforto went 4-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's win over the Diamondbacks.

EDGE Analysis

Conforto got a couple RBI singles in Friday's four-hit night, bringing his batting average up 31 points in one game. Conforto had been hovering around the .200 mark since the end of April, and has tallied only seven extra-base hits on the year. The outfielder's on-base percentage (.352) has also steadily declined over the past month, as he's only walked twice since the beginning of May.

Conforto is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Conforto has posted disappointing numbers this season after returning earlier than expected from offseason shoulder surgery, hitting just .208/.342/.344 in 117 plate appearances. He may be turning things around recently, though, going 6-for-20 with a pair of homers in his last five games. Juan Lagares will start in center field in his absence.

Conforto went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 3-1 win over the Phillies.

EDGE Analysis

His ninth-inning shot off Hector Neris erased a 1-0 deficit and gave Conforto his third homer of the season, and his second in four games. The 25-year-old fell into a slump in the back half of April, but his 5-for-16 performance over those last four games have raised his batting average back over the Mendoza Line to .207. Conforto's .345 OBP remains strong, however, and if he continues to heat up he should quickly work his way back to the top of the batting order.

This is the lowest Conforto has be situated in the order since last June. The outfielder hasn't been able to shake out of his early season struggles at this point, hitting just .188/.333/.294 with two home runs and seven RBI in 26 games, so manager Mickey Callaway elected to try something different heading into Wednesday's series finale with southpaw Sal Romano on the mound for the Reds.

The performance ended an 0-for-13 skid for Conforto, while the homer was his first since his first game of the season April 5. The outfielder's .198/.347/.309 slash line suggests he returned too quickly from last year's shoulder surgery, and his playing time could remain spotty until he finds his swing consistently again.

Conforto is once again out of the lineup Sunday against Colorado.

Conforto was passed up in favor of Brandon Zimmo against a right-handed pitcher Saturday, which is a bit more surprising than the fact he'll take a seat against lefty Kyle Freeland on Sunday. The outfielder's OPS stands at just .614 on the season, and that mark drops to .583 against left-handed pitching. In Conforto's stead, Juan Lagares will man center field and bat leadoff.
