Michael Bourn (thumb) could return on Wednesday. An MRI taken Tuesday showed no structural damage in Bourn's thumb, which he jammed on Saturday. The speedster is batting .274/.346/.391 with 39 stolen bases and a career-high nine home runs in 151 games this season.

Michael Bourn jammed his thumb during Saturday's game and will not play on Sunday. He's sitting purely for precautionary reasons and fully expects to return to the lineup on Tuesday. Bourn has been in quite the funk lately, hitting just .188 (12-for-64) with one RBI and one steal over his last 18 games.

Bourn took Kyle Kendrick deep for a two-run homer in the fourth before doubling home a run in the eighth. His ninth home run of the season was just his second since June 26. Bourn is still hitting a solid 289/.346/.423 in his walk year, however, and has posted 37 extra-base hits, 48 RBI and 29 stolen bases in 111 games.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Giants are expected to pursue Michael Bourn when he hits free agency after the season. They've expressed interest in him in the past, and they view center field as a particularly important position for them given their spacious outfield. The Giants would also like to re-sign Melky Cabrera, as well, but they probably won't be able to keep him and sign Bourn. The Braves wouldn't mind locking Bourn up with a long-term deal, but they've yet to engage in any substantial talks and might not be able to fit him in their payroll.

Michael Bourn has been added to the National League All-Star team in place of Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond who will rest an oblique injury. Bourn is certainly worthy of playing in the midsummer classic, posting a .305/.360/.448 line with seven homers and 23 stolen bases over the first half of the season.
