Taylor (elbow) is starting in left field and batting eighth in Friday's Cactus League game against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran outfielder was sidelined nearly a week due to right elbow inflammation but is ready to retake the field for Friday's spring contest. Luis Robert is locked in as the White Sox's primary center fielder, but Taylor should still see semi-regular starts when Robert gets a breather, even as the DH or with a full day off, thanks to his elite defense.

Manager Will Venable said Sunday that Taylor (elbow) is expected to return to Cactus League play before the end of this week, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Taylor had to be scratched from Saturday's lineup due to right elbow inflammation and it sounds like he'll need a couple more days of rest before getting back into games. The 33-year-old projects to be a reserve outfielder for the White Sox this season, although Andrew Benintendi's (hand) impending injured list stint could lead to increased reps for Taylor early on.

Taylor was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's Cactus League game versus Seattle due to right elbow inflammation, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The severity of Taylor's injury isn't immediately clear, though the White Sox will likely offer more information on his condition at some point. In the meantime, Wilfred Veras will step in to play right field while batting ninth.

Taylor signed a one-year, $1.95 million contract with the White Sox on Tuesday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 33-year-old Taylor is coming off the worst season of his career at the plate, during which he slashed .193/.253/.290 with five homers, 21 RBI and 12 stolen bases across 300 plate appearances with the Pirates. That being said, he still boasts one of the best center-field gloves in the majors, which should be enough to buy him regular playing time and cause Luis Robert to work as a DH more often in 2025.

EDGE Analysis
Taylor was booted from the 40-man roster earlier this week and has now been cut loose. The veteran outfielder will head into free agency after hitting just .193/.253/.290 over 300 plate appearances for the Pirates this season.

Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Taylor has started consecutive games with lefties on the mound, though he hasn't been in the lineup against a right-hander since Aug. 25. He did manage to pop his fifth home run of the season and first since July 30 with lefty Patrick Corbin on the mound Sunday.

Taylor will start in center field and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Guardians.
EDGE Analysis
Though he'll enter the lineup for the series finale, Taylor didn't start in any of the previous three contests and looks like he'll operate mainly as a fourth or fifth outfielder moving forward. With Andrew McCutchen returning from the injured list Friday and taking back primary duties at designated hitter, Oneil Cruz is now likely to see the bulk of his starts in center field moving forward, closing off Taylor's main path to playing time.

Taylor will start in center field and bat eighth in Tuesday's game versus the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Taylor was placed on outright waivers Sunday, but he went unclaimed and will remain on the Pirates' active roster for the time being. Oneil Cruz's move to center field for Pittsburgh is imminent, but he will serve as the designated hitter for the second game in a row Tuesday while Taylor patrols center field.

The Pirates placed Taylor on outright waivers on Sunday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Taylor will now be available to be claimed by the 29 other teams in the league, though he may not have many suitors based on his .196/.257/.284 slash line over 250 at-bats in 100 games with the Pirates this season. If he goes unclaimed on waivers, the outfieler will either report to Triple-A Indianapolis or be released outright.
