Fried (hand) said he's optimistic that he'll be able to make his next scheduled start Sunday against the Diamondbacks, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fried exited his previous start in the second inning after getting hit in the hand by a comebacker. Fortunately, X-rays revealed no signs of a fracture, and the southpaw remains hopeful that he won't be forced to miss a turn through the rotation after reporting that his hand feels much better Wednesday. That said, a final decision regarding his status for Sunday's start likley won't come until later in the week. Should Fried be unable to take the mound, Sean Newcomb would be a candidate to step into the rotation for a spot start, assuming he isn't needed out of the bullpen prior to then.

Fried is uncertain to make his next scheduled start Sunday against the Diamondbacks after he exited Tuesday's 9-0 loss to the Dodgers in the second inning, when he was struck in his (left) throwing hand by a Alex Verdugo comebacker, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. "We're going to do everything in our power to go out and make that [Sunday] start," Fried said. "We'll see how the swelling is [Wednesday]."
EDGE Analysis
Though Fried's upcoming availability is in peril, the club is likely just thankful the young southpaw avoided a more serious injury after X-rays revealed no signs of a fracture. As Fried himself alluded to, he's contending with soreness and swelling at this point, which could require more than a few days to subside. In the event Fried isn't available to pitch this weekend, Sean Newcomb may be the top candidate to pick up a start, assuming he's not needed out of the bullpen prior to Sunday.

Fried was diagnosed with a bruised left hand as X-rays came back negative after leaving Tuesday's game versus the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Fried exiting during the second inning after being hit on his throwing hand by a line drive off the bat of Alex Verdugo. The 25-year-old should be considered day-to-day for the time being.

Fried exited Tuesday's game against the Dodgers after being hit in the left hand by a line drive, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fried made a couple warm-up tosses to see if he could remain in the game prior to being removed. The 25-year-old ended up being charged with four runs on four hits over one inning, and should be considered day-to-day until more information is available on the injury.

Fried (4-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-1 victory over the Padres, allowing one run on four hits over seven innings while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
A Manny Machado solo homer in the fourth inning was the only blemish on the left-hander's line for the night. Fried has now delivered quality starts in five of his six turns through the rotation, and he'll take a sparkling 2.11 ERA and 33:7 K:BB through 38.1 innings into his next outing Monday, on the road against the Dodgers.

Fried (3-1) took the loss after surrendering four runs on seven hits while striking out eight over 5.1 innings Friday night against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Fried gave up a pair of solo blasts in the fourth inning and surrendered another two runs in the sixth. Although it certainly wasn't a horrific outing by any means, Friday's performance was his worst outing of the season, and it raised his ERA from 1.38 to 2.30. He'll look to get back on track in his next start Wednesday against the Padres.

Fried (3-0) allowed two runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out six over 6.1 innings in a win over the Indians on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The offense staked him to a big lead and Fried cruised, posting zeroes until the seventh. Fried only has 18 strikeouts in his 26 innings, but the results have been pristine, and the combination of a solid fastball, a plus curveball, good command and favorable team context makes Fried a highly-appealing option in all formats. The lefty lines up for a home start next weekend against the Rockies, a team he held to five hits and one unearned run over six innings at Coors Field back on April 9.

Fried didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the Diamondbacks, giving up two runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw was sharp once again and delivered his third straight quality start, but Fried got robbed of his second win when the bullpen coughed up a 5-2 lead after his exit. He'll have to deal with some regression eventually, but Fried will carry a 0.92 ERA and 12:4 K:BB through 19.2 innings into his next outing Sunday in Cleveland.

Fried (2-0) picked up the win in Tuesday's 7-1 victory over the Rockies, allowing only one unearned run on five hits and a walk over six innings while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw not only survived but thrived in his first career start in Coors Field, firing 57 of 90 pitches for strikes while keeping his ERA on the season at a pristine 0.00. Mike Foltynewicz (elbow) could rejoin the rotation as soon as this weekend, but it's hard to imagine Fried being the pitcher to get bumped aside given his current form.

Fried (1-0) picked up the win against the Cubs on Thursday, giving up just one hit over six strong innings, striking out striking out five and walking none in a 9-4 win for the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Fried drew the start Thursday after making two relief appearances to start the season, and was brilliant, taking a perfect game into the sixth inning as he and the Braves cruised to victory. Fried also posted a solid 2.94 ERA and 44 strikeouts over 33.2 innings in five starts and nine relief appearances last season. If he continues to pitch well, he could make a case to remain a starter even when Kevin Gausman (shoulder) and Mike Foltynewicz (elbow) make their returns from the injured list.
