Cabrera signed with the Diamondbacks as a non-roster invitee Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Cabrera recorded a strong 2.82 ERA in his 38.1-inning debut back in 2016 but hasn't been seen in the majors since, due to a combination of elbow issues and poor performance. In 48.0 innings for Double-A Birmingham in the White Sox's system last year, he recorded a 4.50 ERA and a very poor 19.1 percent walk rate.

Cabrera was cut loose by the Braves on Wednesday, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cabrera hadn't appeared in a major-league game since tossing 38.1 innings with the Braves in 2016. Over 31 appearances with High-A Florida this season, he had logged a disastrous 11.03 ERA and 2.71 WHIP over 31 innings of relief. He will look to latch on with another organization, though it's unlikely that we will see Cabrera back on a big-league mound in 2018.

Cabrera was sent to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday after clearing waivers.
EDGE Analysis
Cabrera was removed from the 40-man roster to make room for new signing Peter Moylan. The 24-year-old flamethrower struggled to a 6.49 ERA in 43 innings split between the three highest levels of the minors last year, walking more batters (45) than he struck out (38). His triple-digit fastball could eventually be a major-league weapon, but he'll need to have some idea where it's going in order to win a roster spot.

Cabrera was designated for assignment by the Braves on Monday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
To make room for the newly-acquired Peter Moylan, Atlanta opted to designate Cabrera for assignment. Cabrera had a rough showing at Triple-A Gwinnett in 2017, where he spent the bulk of last season. Over 24 games (26.1 innings) he posted a 7.86 ERA and 1.94 WHIP.

Cabrera (elbow) was activated from the DL and optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cabrera has the tools to pitch in high-leverage situations one day, but he needs to work on his command, which was an issue even before the ailment. Until he can tune up his control, the hard-throwing right-hander will remain in the minors.

Cabrera (elbow) completed a scoreless inning for Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, but threw just six of his 17 pitches for strikes, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has thrown 24 of his 51 pitches for strikes during his rehab assignment, but has not allowed a run while striking out four over four innings. Cabrera is a decent long-term saves play in dynasty leagues, but he will likely be behind at least Jim Johnson and Arodys Vizcaino in the pecking order when he gets activated this season.

Cabrera (elbow) will pitch in a rehab assignment Tuesday for Triple-A Gwinnett, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports.
EDGE Analysis
After that appearance, it is likely Cabrera will pitch in at least one two-inning appearance before being activated from the 10-day disabled list. The earliest he can rejoin the Braves is May 5 against the Cardinals.

Cabrera is set to begin his minor-league rehab assignment with High-A Florida Friday, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cabrera will throw one inning Friday and hopefully toss two more in his next outing barring any setbacks. If all goes well in Florida, the 23-year-old will then head to Triple-A Gwinnett where he'll get his footing before returning to the Braves' bullpen.

Cabrera (elbow) will pitch in an extended spring training game Friday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
By completing a live batting practice session Tuesday, Cabrera cleared one of the last major hurdles on his road back to active competition. The Braves will keep him in a controlled environment Friday but it sounds like Cabrera could join Triple-A Gwinnett as soon as next week. While Cabrera throws gas and could end up being a closer in the future, he will need to prove his health and rein in his control for that to come to fruition.

Cabrera (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cabrera was originally scheduled to throw his first bullpen session during his DL stint on Monday, but that date has been bumped back to Wednesday. The reliever has felt good during his flat-ground throwing sessions and it sounds like he'll be back prior to the end of April.
