Matt Boyd (SP, DET) - Week 21 Waiver Wire Pickups rotoballer.com Sat 8/18/18 8:58 AM
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 26% of leagues
ANALYSIS: From the end of July to this point in August, Matt Boyd has been in a nice rhythm for the Tigers to the tune of a 3.13 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, and 8.0 K/9 over his last five starts. He got off to an excellent start to the season through the first two months, but limped through June with a 6.32 ERA and 1.47 WHIP after allowing six HR and 42.7% hard contact on batted balls. Boyd struggled to gain footing after June, but since [...]

Who's ready to take advantage of leagues whose owners are slipping on baseball in lieu of prepping for the fantasy football season? I know I am! Now let's leave the football helmet over there and pick up a batting helmet as we step into the cage against these premier adds.
If you want to chat more about additional arms/bats/whatever, you can find[...]

Matt Boyd (SP, DET) - Week 20 Waiver Wire Pickups rotoballer.com Fri 8/10/18 9:19 AM
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 18% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Matt Boyd is only 6-10 this season, posting a 4.33 ERA that is a bit below average, but there are a lot of reasons to own Boyd. First off, he has 8.14 strikeouts per nine this season and has 35 strikeouts in his last 34 1/3 innings. Secondly, he has also walked just five batters in that same time span (since the beginning of July) and has allowed less than five hits in four of his six s[...]

Two-Start Pitcher Streamers: Week 18 (August 6th-August 12th) rotoballer.com Sat 8/4/18 5:30 AM
We have 10 matchups on Monday, increasing our chances of having some decent two-start options in the fantasy baseball world. We have, potentially, 35 pitchers who could take two turns in the rotation in Week 18.
For this post, we have a mixed bag of suggestions to stream. We have veterans and young arms. Most of all, we have some under-the-radar pitchers who've put together some decent outings in recent history and could continue that trend for this week.
In our last article, we touted Tanner [...]
Matthew Boyd Seeking Revenge Against Reds rotoballer.com Tue 7/31/18 7:19 AM
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd will take the hill at home Tuesday against the Reds, a team that beat him up handily in their only meeting earlier this season. On June 19, Boyd allowed five runs in just four innings of work, and was hurt badly by three walks and a Joey Votto grand slam. Boyd owns a putrid 6.00 ERA in the month of July, but has a 3.40 home ERA on the year. Despite his solid numbers at home, he's probably one to avoid. After all, he's allowed five or more runs in fo[...]

Matthew Boyd Has Strong Outing Against Royals rotoballer.com Wed 7/25/18 1:10 PM
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd had a very solid showing on Wednesday afternoon in an 8-4 win over the Kansas City Royals. Boyd threw six innings, allowed two earned runs off of seven hits, and walked no one while striking out seven. The win was his first since June 7 against the Red Sox, and it moves his record to 5-9 on the season. Boyd also sports a 4.53 ERA and a 100/38 K/BB ratio in 109 1/3 innings and is not quite on the fantasy radar at the moment.
Strikeout Rate Risers and Fallers for Week 17: Buy or Sell? rotoballer.com Mon 7/23/18 3:00 AM
Due to a combination of harder throwers and hitters focusing on hitting for power, strikeouts are at an all-time high in baseball. For pitchers, this is an ideal trend. The ability to generate swings and misses is the most important skill to possess, as it's the only true way to control what happens after the pitch is thrown and eliminate the randomness that the ballpark, fielders, weather, and luck can play.
The stat is equally important for fantasy players. Not only are strikeouts a categor[...]
