Vierling went 2-for-6 with two runs scored in Friday's extra-innings win over the Giants. He also stole a base.
EDGE Analysis
Vierling was productive from the leadoff spot, contributing the two runs and also his second stolen base of the season. The outfielder has played in 11 of the team's first 13 games, with left-handed hitters Kerry Carpenter and Akil Baddoo also in the mix with Austin Meadows (personal) out. Vierling isn't a great fantasy asset at the moment, but he does get a boost from batting first, which he's done in three of his last five starts.

Vierling is not in the Tigers' lineup for Thursday's game in Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
Vierling has pretty much been an everyday player for the Tigers in right field but will sit this one out. Kerry Carpenter will handle right and Tyler Nevin will be the designated hitter.

Vierling is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Vierling will sit for just the second time in the Tigers' first nine games of the season, opening up a spot in the outfield for the newly recalled Akil Baddoo. Though Vierling appeared to be viewed as a short-side platoon option to begin the season and benefited from the Tigers facing a lefty-heavy schedule early on, he should have a chance to play regularly against right-handers moving forward in the wake of Austin Meadows being placed on the 10-day injured list due to anxiety. Vierling has been one of the early standouts for the 2-6 Tigers, batting .286 with two extra-base hits and a stolen base through his first 30 plate appearances.

Vierling went 4-for-5 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in Monday's win over Houston. He was also caught stealing.
EDGE Analysis
Vierling singled three times and scored a run in the second inning but he saved the best for last with his two-run, go-ahead blast in the 11th. He took Hector Neris deep with a 108 mph rocket to dead center. Vierling snapped an 0-for-7 skid through his first two games as a Tiger.

Vierling is starting in right field and batting first in Sunday's game against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
With Tampa Bay starting lefty Jeffrey Springs, Vierling picks up the start with Kerry Carpenter heading to the bench. It looks like a straight platoon between the two at the moment, as Vierling has seen two starts in the early going, both against southpaws. That caps his season-long value a bit, though he's a sneaky value option in daily contests due to his spot atop the batting order.

Vierling is starting in right field and batting leadoff for the Tigers in Thursday's opener versus the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Much of Vierling's playing time, at least initially, will probably come against lefties, and he's at the top of the batting order versus Shane McClanahan. The Tigers are also going with the right-handed hitting Ryan Kreidler at third base.

Vierling is starting in left field and batting leadoff Monday versus the Blue Jays, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vierling will return to the lineup after nursing a knee strain for the last 10 days. The outfielder has produced a .467 average with two homers, four RBI, four runs and a stolen base over 15 at-bats in six games this spring.

Vierling (knee) is on track to complete baserunning and full outfield drills by the end of the week, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vierling has been ramping up his running and also going through live batting practice without issue. He's made a quick recovery from a right knee strain and should be ready to play in games in about a week.

Vierling (knee) was able to perform a range of baseball activities Sunday and said he expects to return to the Tigers' spring lineup "fairly quick," though the team hasn't pinpointed a definitive target date for him to resume playing, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
More specifically, McCosky notes that Vierling was able to field grounders, shag fly balls in the outfield, take part in running and take swings in batting practice Sunday. Vierling said that the swelling in his strained right knee has already diminished since he sustained the injury early last week, and his ability to resume baseball activities suggests that the Tigers are likely viewing him as day-to-day. Assuming Vierling moves past the injury before the end of spring training, he'll likely open the season in a short-side platoon role for Detroit.

Vierling suffered a mild posterior right knee strain earlier this week, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vierling is slated to resume light baseball activities this weekend. That he's been cleared already indicates that the injury is minor, but a knee issue this close to Opening Day bears watching. If healthy, Vierling is in line for consistent playing time with the Tigers as a right-handed hitting fourth outfielder behind three left-handed starters.
