Shoemaker threw 60 pitches during an intrasquad game Thursday, Laura Armstrong of The Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
While he did allow homers to Bo Bichette and Rowdy Tellez, the veteran right-hander was otherwise sharp, firing 42 pitches for strikes. While the Jays will likely have a number of starters on limited pitch counts to begin the season, Shoemaker doesn't appear as though he'll be one of them. "He deserves a lot of credit. These past three months he was throwing the whole time and staying in shape," manager Charlie Montoyo said before the game.

Shoemaker has been able to throw regularly at a bullpen facility near his home while the season remains suspended, Gregor Chisholm of The Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Keeping his arm in shape is important for Shoemaker -- the veteran right-hander has thrown only 137.1 innings over the last three seasons due to a variety of injuries, so ramping back up quickly and safely once MLB resumes operations could be a bigger challenge for him than other pitchers. Assuming he doesn't break down again, however, Shoemaker's expected to fill a mid-rotation role for the Jays in 2020.

Shoemaker walked one batter and struck out four over four no-hit, scoreless innings in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has had incredibly bad injury luck since 2017, pitching a total of 137.1 innings over the last three seasons, but Shoemaker is healthy this spring and seems intent on proving he's more than just a journeyman. The 33-year-old has a 0.00 ERA, 0.30 WHIP and 9:1 K:BB through 6.2 innings, and he's on track to fill in a mid-rotation spot behind Hyun-Jin Ryu for the Jays.

Shoemaker recorded eight outs, five of which came via strikeout, while allowing just a single hit and no runs in his spring debut Monday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran looked great in his first appearance since tearing his ACL last April. He picked off the only runner who reached base against him Monday.

Shoemaker will make his spring debut Monday against the Pirates, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker's 2019 campaign was cut short in late April due to a torn ACL, though the injury happened early enough in the season that it appears he'll be ready for Opening Day this year. It's unwise to overreact to the veteran's five-start sample last season, but his 1.57 ERA and 0.87 WHIP in those starts were certainly excellent marks. His 3.95 FIP and 4.46 xFIP caution against getting too excited, however.

Shoemaker completed his first simulated game of spring training Wednesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Charlie Montoyo relayed that Shoemaker's sim game went well, so the right-hander should be cleared to make his Grapefruit League debut as soon as Monday. That outing will mark his first competitive game action since late April, when he tore his ACL and missed the remainder of the season. Assuming he has no issue with building up to a starter's workload before Opening Day arrives, Shoemaker's spot in Toronto's rotation should be relatively secure.

Shoemaker threw a bullpen session Sunday and felt good afterward, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker is being brought along slowly during spring training as he returns from knee surgery, but he's been throwing recently despite not participating in fielding drills yet. It's unclear when he could make his first Grapefruit League appearance, but he appears to be on track for Opening Day.

Shoemaker has yet to begin fielding drills this spring as the Jays bring him back slowly from last year's knee surgery, and there's no target date yet for his first Grapefruit League appearance, Gregor Chisholm of The Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander is well into his throwing program however, and the team isn't concerned about him not being ready for the start of the regular season. "We would have a little bit more concern than we would have for someone who is not coming off surgery, but not more than that," Jays general manager Ross Atkins said. "It's just the fact that he's coming off surgery. There's nothing telling us that he will be late or set back. We're giving him a bit more of a transition to fielding his position. We're being cautious on that front, but we have the room to do that. He should be fine for Opening Day. He should be in the rotation for Opening Day." Shoemaker hasn't thrown more than 77.2 innings in a season since 2016 due to a variety of injuries, but the 33-year-old is still penciled in as a mid-rotation arm for Toronto this year.

Shoemaker has agreed to a one-year, $4.2 million deal with the Blue Jays, avoiding arbitration, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is the 33-year-old righty's final year of arbitration before he hits the open market. Injuries limited him to five starts in 2019, but he should open the year in the Jays' rotation.

Shoemaker (knee) has resumed throwing bullpen sessions, the pitcher reported on his own Twitter account.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker had a 1.57 ERA through five starts with the Blue Jays before tearing his ACL in late April. He appears to be on target for the start of spring training.
