Manager David Bell said Sunday that Reynolds is expected to sit out at least the first few games of Cactus League action due to back and knee soreness, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear when the issues first surfaced for Reynolds, but he'll have a delayed start to camp as a result. The 32-year-old was removed from Cincinnati's 40-man roster during the offseason, so a lengthy absence during spring training will significantly affect his chances of making the Opening Day roster.

Reynolds cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville by the Reds on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Reynolds has the option to decline the outright assignment and elect free agency if he wants, so it's yet to be determined whether he'll remain in the organization. The 32-year-old has a career .630 OPS over parts of five seasons at the major-league level.

Reynolds was designated for assignment by the Reds on Friday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After the Reds signed Luke Weaver to a contract for the 2023 season on Friday, Reynolds was moved off the 40-man roster to open up a spot for him. The 32-year-old utility man slashed just .246/.320/.332 over 272 plate appearances last season. His defensive versatility should make him especially valuable for another team in search of bench depth.

Reynolds is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
With Donovan Solano recently overcoming an eye infection, Reynolds appears to have moved into a utility role for Cincinnati. Reynolds is on the bench for the third time in four games.

Reynolds isn't in the lineup Friday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Reynolds started six of the last seven games and went 4-for-17 with a double, an RBI, four walks and six strikeouts. He'll get a breather since Donovan Solano is starting at first base and batting fifth in his return to the lineup.

Reynolds will start at first base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
He'll be included in the lineup for the fifth straight contest, including his third start in a row at first base while Donovan Solano (eye) remains sidelined. Since returning from the 10-day injured list Sept. 9, Reynolds is slashing .333/.429/.375 with three RBI and one run in 11 games.

Reynolds went 3-for-4 with a double and one run scored in a loss to St. Louis in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.
EDGE Analysis
Reynolds had been dreadful in his last 13 games prior to this one, slashing .143/.211/.171 over 38 plate appearances dating back before his recent hip injury. The 31-year-old is extremely versatile, having spent time at every position except pitcher and catcher this season, though his lack of consistency at the plate limits his effectiveness.

Reynolds (hip) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Reynolds has been sidelined the past couple weeks by the injury injury and has been cleared to rejoin the active roster after a three-game rehab stint with Triple-A Louisville. The 31-year-old should return to a utility role now that he's healthy.

Reynolds (hip) started at shortstop and went 0-for-3 in the first game of his rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Reynolds played five innings before exiting the contest, so he'll presumably need to play at least one full game in the minors before the Reds are comfortable bringing him back from the 10-day injured list. Once he's reinstated, Reynolds will likely fill a utility role for Cincinnati.

Reds manager David Bell said Tuesday that Reynolds (hip) will begin a rehab assignment soon, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bell didn't specify whether Reynolds will head to the minors later this week or at some point next week, but the veteran utility man at least looks to be progressing from the left hip injury that landed him on the 10-day injured list Aug. 23. Whenever he makes his way back from the IL, Reynolds is expected to fill a bench role for the Reds, with most of his opportunities to start likely coming against left-handed pitching.
