Manning (2-4) was tagged with the loss Saturday against the Orioles after allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks while fanning three across 5.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Manning might have given up five runs and the stat line doesn't look too good, but only two of those were earned and now he's given up two or fewer earned runs in four of his last five appearances. The rookie right-hander posted a 4.07 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP across five July starts and should remain in the rotation the rest of the way as long as he stays healthy. He's scheduled to make his next start against Cleveland on the road next week.

Manning didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Twins, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk over five-plus innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie didn't pitch too badly through five innings, but Brent Rooker led off the sixth with a solo shot and Manning walked Jorge Polanco before getting the hook, with Jose Cisnero then allowing the inherited runner to score. Manning remains a work in progress, but he has worked at least five innings in each of his last three starts, posting a 3.94 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB through 16 frames over that stretch.

Manning is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Twins in Minnesota, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Jose Urena (groin) recently joining Spencer Turnbull (elbow), Matthew Boyd (triceps) and Julio Teheran (shoulder) on the injured list, Manning and Tyler Alexander should have a decent amount of leash on back-end rotation spots for Detroit. After being called up from Triple-A Toledo last week when the Tigers required a fifth starter for the first time in the second half, Manning delivered the best start of his young career. He limited the Rangers to two runs (one earned) while striking out four across six innings en route to capturing his second win.

Manning (2-3) allowed two runs (one earned) across six innings to pick up the win Wednesday against the Rangers. He gave up four hits and two walks while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
Manning got the call from Triple-A Toledo coming out of the All-Star break, and the 23-year-old turned in his best start at the MLB level. It was the first time in six appearances during his rookie campaign that he lasted at least six innings, while the one earned run was a new career best as well. Manning should continue to pick up starts for the Tigers as they evaluate him for the future. He's scheduled to take the hill again Monday against the Twins.

Manning was recalled from Triple-A Toledo and will start Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was sent to the minors prior to the All-Star break and will rejoin the big-league rotation Wednesday. Manning has a 6.95 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 9:8 K:BB across 22 innings through his first five starts in the majors, though a nine-run blowup versus Cleveland accounts for most of the damage against him.

The Tigers are expected to call Manning up from Triple-A Toledo to start Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Before being optioned to Toledo prior to the All-Star break, Manning was lit up over his first five big-league starts, posting a 6.95 ERA and 1.59 WHIP across 22 innings. Despite the discouraging results, Manning looks like he'll have a decent amount of leash at the back of the Detroit rotation due to the team's lack of healthy starters. Jose Urena (groin) joined Matthew Boyd (triceps), Spencer Turnbull (forearm) and Julio Teheran (shoulder) on the injured list Saturday, and none of the four appear close to a return.

The Tigers don't expect Manning to pitch for Triple-A Toledo during the All-Star break, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Contrary to initial reports, Manning's demotion was simply to add a bullpen arm in Derek Holland for the last two games before the break. Having pitched Friday, Manning was going to be unavailable Saturday and Sunday anyway.

The Tigers optioned Manning to Triple-A Toledo following Friday's 4-2 loss to the Twins, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The righty took the loss Friday, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks in five innings of work. Manning also struck out three batters. It was a solid effort after he failed to complete four innings in consecutive outings, but his big-league ERA through five starts is a rough 6.95. Manning was sent down to make a start with the Triple-A club during the All-Star break.

Manning allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk in 2.2 innings versus the White Sox on Sunday. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander needed 60 pitches (38 strikes) to get through the appearance, which was the shortest of his four starts so far. Both runs allowed came in the third inning. Manning now has a 7.94 ERA through 17 innings, although that ratio is inflated by a nine-run shellacking by Cleveland in his previous start. He's added a 1.76 WHIP and 6:5 K:BB, both of which are discouraging marks for the 23-year-old. He lines up for an easier matchup versus Minnesota in next weekend's four-game series.

Manning (1-2) allowed nine runs on nine hits across 3.2 innings to take the loss Monday against Cleveland. He struck out two and did not issue any walks.
EDGE Analysis
The lack of walks is nice, but it was otherwise a forgettable outing for Manning, who gave up both a two-run home run and a three-run bomb. The rookie was better in his first two MLB starts, allowing a total of four runs across 10.2 innings, so this just looks like part of the learning curve that young pitchers go through. Manning still has loads of potential, and he'll look for better results in his next scheduled appearance Sunday against the White Sox.
