Joyce (back) took swings off a tee Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Joyce noted that his back is feeling better and he simply needs to work his way back into shape at this point. It's unclear if he'll need to play in any minor-league games before returning, leaving him without a concrete timetable for his return.

Joyce, who was placed on the disabled list Wednesday with a back injury, will undergo an MRI on Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Joyce said that his back has been bothering him for more than a month, but it only recently became too bothersome to play through. Thursday's tests will hopefully shed some light on the severity of the issue and offer a possible timetable for his return. The first day Joyce is eligible for activation is June 16, while Mark Canha figures to benefit from increased playing time while the outfielder is sidelined.

Joyce (back) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday, Julian McWilliams of The Athletic Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Joyce will head to the disabled list after exiting Saturday's game with back tightness. The injury doesn't appear to be too serious, and he'll be eligible to return starting June 16 against the Angels. The Athletics have called up Nick Martini in a corresponding move.

Joyce (back) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Royals, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Joyce exited Saturday's game with back tightness and indicated Sunday that he's still hurting, but the veteran outfielder isn't overly worried about the injury. With Oakland off the schedule Monday and Joyce scheduled to sit out Tuesday's game against the Rangers with Texas bringing a lefty to the hill, the 33-year-old is optimistic that the three days of rest will be all he needs to make a full recovery. Joyce's absence from the lineup Sunday clears a spot for Mark Canha.

Joyce was pulled from Saturday's game against the Royals with lower back tightness, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Joyce was 0-for-3 with a strikeout and lined out in the top of the fifth inning, only to be replaced in left field by Mark Canha for the bottom of the frame. The severity of the injury is unclear at this point, and Joyce should be considered day-to-day for the time being.

Joyce went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in a win over the Rays on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran outfielder snapped out of an 0-for-15 slump in grand fashion, roping a 373-foot shot to right center in the eighth that brought home Stephen Piscotty and extended the Athletics' lead to 7-0. The blast allowed Joyce to close out what was an otherwise mostly poor month in positive fashion, as he hit just .194 over 102 plate appearances in May while seeing a 10.5 percent boost in strikeout rate from that of April (17.0 percent to 27.5 percent).

Joyce will take a seat for Tuesday's matchup against Tampa Bay, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Joyce gets the day off after appearing in 12 straight games. He's batting .214 with two homers, three RBI and 11 strikeouts over that span. Joyce will be replaced by Chad Pinder, who's set to bat fifth.

Joyce went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Joyce opened the scoring on the night with a 412-foot shot to lead off the home half of the first, his fourth round tripper of May. The veteran has hit safely in five of the last six games, but his monthly average remains an unsightly .216. However, Joyce has an established track record of much better production, and he remains on pace to log over 500 plate appearances in consecutive seasons for the first time in his career.

Joyce is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
As per usual, Joyce will head to the bench with a lefty (Marco Gonzales) toeing the rubber for the opposition. Chad Pinder will start in left field and hit second in his stead.
