Matt den Dekker went 2-for-3 and hit his first spring homer Thursday versus the Marlins.
Den Dekker is the Mets' best defensive center fielder, but his bat has always been in question. After a couple of very good months in Double-A last year, he went up to Triple-A and hit .220/.256/.373 in 295 at-bats. For that reason, it's doubtful he'll make the Mets out of spring training. If he improves in Triple-A, he'll probably get a shot.

The Mets have promoted prospect outfielder Matt den Dekker to Triple-A Buffalo.
Well deserved, as den Dekker batted .340/.397/.563 with eight homers, 29 RBI, 10 stolen bases and a .960 OPS in 58 games with Double-A Binghamton this season. The 24-year-old strikes out quite a bit, but his pop and strong defense in center field makes him pretty interesting. He could find his way to the majors by the end of this season.
