Chapman was a late scratch from Saturday's Cactus League game after he cracked his toenail on a chair, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Bob Melvin took Chapman out as a precaution, so it's safe to consider him day-to-day. The 23-year-old has one hit in 10 at-bats this spring after slugging 29 home runs at Double-A Midland last season. Expect to see him back in the lineup soon.

Chapman, a 2014 first-round pick and non-roster invitee, went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Saturday's 4-3 Cactus League loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
The A's are hoping to give Chapman some much-needed seasoning against big league arms this spring, and he got off to a positive start in that regard by launching a two-run blast off reliever Jose Rosario in the fourth inning. The 23-year-old did go down on strikes in another one of his at-bats, an area of his game that both Chapman and the A's are looking for considerable improvement in during his spring training tenure. Over 514 combined at-bats at the Double-A and Triple-A levels last season, Chapman whiffed at a 30.6 percent clip, a number that needs to come down if he hopes to take over the starting third base job in 2018.

Chapman, a 2014 first-round pick, will be a non-roster invitee in spring training, David Schoenfield of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old played the majority of his games in 2016 at Double-A Midland before an 18-game stint at Triple-A Nashville to close out the season. Chapman supplied a combined 27 doubles, five triples, 36 homers, 96 RBI and a .237/.328/.519 line over 514 at-bats, but also tallied a bloated 30.6 percent strikeout rate. He'll get his hacks in against big league arms during the exhibition slate, and with veteran Trevor Plouffe signed to just a one-year deal this offseason, another year of seasoning could have Chapman ready to make the move to the major league squad in 2018.

Athletics manager Bob Melvin said Sunday that Chapman isn't likely to receive a promotion to the big leagues in the final month of the season, Carl Steward of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman turned heads with a three-homer game Saturday sfor Triple-A Nashville, but that apparently didn't move the needle enough for the organization. Though he's shown exceptional power in the minors this season, Chapman has generally scuffled since being promoted to Triple-A, slashing .194/.284/.528 across 81 plate appearances.

Chapman, 23, is slashing .230/.323/.451 with 15 home runs, 36 RBI and four steals through 68 games for Double-A Midland.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman got off to a fast start in 2016, but has come crashing back down to earth. A huge red flag is his strikeout total, which sits at 98 in 68 contests. It remains to be seen if Chapman will be able to hit for average at the higher levels. Chapman has not hit above .250 in any single year since entering the minors.

Chapman, 23, is slashing .259/.372/.560 with nine home runs, 20 RBI and three steals through 31 games for Double-A Midland.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman leads the Texas League in home runs and is tied for fifth in RBI. However, he is also fifth in the league in strikeouts. Nevertheless, he also draws plenty of walks, and could get a look from the big club before 2016 is finished.
