Chapman was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Thursday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
As anticipated, the Athletics will call up one of their top prospects to provide a jolt to their offense. Chapman has a .333 ISO with the Sounds this season, although he also struck out 31 percent of the time. With Trevor Plouffe being designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for him, it seems like Chapman will get a full audition to be Oakland's primary third baseman.

Chapman is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Nashville ahead of Thursday's game against the Yankees, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman is set to join the Athletics now that he can no longer gain super-two arbitration status. The 24-year-old is slashing .259/.350/.592 with 16 homers and 30 RBI through 48 games (203 plate appearances) for Nashville this season. With Trevor Plouffe struggling at the dish (.215), Chapman could be in line for playing time at the hot corner as long as Ryon Healy is situated as the designated hitter.

Chapman, who's slashing .238/.336/.554 over 28 games with Triple-A Nashville but is also a superior defensive third baseman, could be called up later this season if Trevor Plouffe is eventually traded to a contender, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. "He's a Gold Glove defender," an AL scout said. "He has that Nolan Arenado-Manny Machado skill set."
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old is clearly still finding his way at the plate, so the Athletics would ideally like for him to continue his development with the Sounds for the duration of 2017. Chapman has smacked nine home runs and 16 RBI over 28 games, but he's also sporting an unsightly 31.1 percent strikeout rate over 119 plate appearances. However, despite his need for further seasoning, he would be a likely call-up this summer if Plouffe is dealt to a contender.

Chapman was activated from the disabled list Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The promising third baseman has been out with a wrist sprain for the better part of two weeks, but all seems to be normal after a clean MRI. Chapman will return to Triple-A Nashville, where he has started the season 0-for-7 with six strikeouts.

Chapman's MRI revealed no structural damage to his wrist, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports.
EDGE Analysis
With his MRI coming back clean, Chapman will now begin a swing progression. MLB.com's Jane Lee also reports that the swelling has decreased while his range of motion improved. However, there is still no timetable for his return from the 7-day DL.

Chapman (wrist) was placed on the 7-day disabled list Sunday, MiLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The power-hitting third baseman hurt his left wrist while checking his swing during a game with Triple-A Nashville on Friday, and it was quickly determined that he'd need some extended time off to recover from the injury. Unless Chapman's wrist issue proves to be more of a multi-month setback than a multi-week one, his development shouldn't be too stunted.

Chapman left Friday's game for Triple-A Nashville with a wrist injury that occurred on a check swing, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports.
EDGE Analysis
He missed much of the 2015 season with a wrist injury, and is expected to be re-evaluated Saturday. A's director of player development Keith Lieppman described the injury as a "tweaked" wrist, but it's possible he injured his hamate bone, which could result in his power being sapped somewhat this season. Chapman's swing-and-miss issues are well known, and he had six strikeouts in seven at-bats through two games prior to the injury.

Chapman was reassigned to Triple-A Sacramento, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman hit .255 with an OPS of .874 over 26 Cactus League games this spring. He managed to slug three home runs along with two triples and a double, but also struck out 16 times over 58 plate appearances. He'll return to Sacramento, where he played just 18 games in 2016, to continue developing his bat.

Chapman hit a solo home run in three at-bats during Monday's 10-3 Cactus League loss to the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
On what was a disappointing day overall for the A's, Chapman provided a highlight with his third homer of spring. The 23-year-old has enjoyed a solid spring while seeing plenty of reps against big-league pitching. He'll start the 2017 season in Triple-A Nashville, where he has plenty to provide after hitting just .197 over 85 plate appearances in 2016, despite smacking seven round-trippers.

Chapman went 2-for-2 with an RBI single, bases-loaded triple and one run in Tuesday's 21-13 Cactus League win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
The promising prospect had entered Tuesday's contest with just one hit in 12 at-bats, so his explosion was a particularly welcome sight. Chapman's sixth-inning bases-clearing three-bagger was his second extra-base hit of spring, and the overall effort could be a sign that the 23-year-old is starting to hit his stride after blasting a total of 52 home runs over his last two minor league campaigns. However, consistent contact continues to be one of his principal problem areas, as he's fanned five times in just 14 total at-bats across his first six spring games.
