Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman was taken out of Thursday's 7-3 loss to the Astros in the seventh inning due to a right hand contusion, per MLB.com's Jane Lee. Chapman uncharacteristically made two errors and went 0-for-2 before exiting the game. He dealt with the same issue in spring training and said that he has been dealing with it all season after Thursday's game. The 25-year-old had started to get things going at the plate in June, hitting .368 with four doubles. A prolonged i[...]

Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman was the lone offensive bright spot for the A's Saturday, picking up three of the team's four hits in a 2-0 loss to the Royals. Chapman went 3-for-3 with three singles and a walk. The 25-year-old owns a disappointing .244/.337/.423 slash line on the season but has been doing better in June, batting .321 with five walks in 28 at-bats. The power is still missing, but if Chapman can get things going at the plate, extra-base hits are likely to follow.

Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 7-3 win over the Rays. The blast was his ninth of the season and was his first HR in 13 games. During that stretch, he hit just .174 with a .240 on-base percentage and a mere .304 slugging percentage. The 25-year-old showed power potential last season, hitting 14 HRs in 84 games, so hopefully this recent shot can get him going. Chapman will get a chance to hit more HRs next series against the Royals, who[...]

The Cut List (Week 8): Time to Let Go? rotoballer.com Sun 5/20/18 3:15 AM
Welcome to Week 8 of the Cut List. I'm continuing the standard league viable cut trend that I've been rolling with for a few weeks. I think my pitching cut suggestions have fared rather well over the past few weeks (Danny Duffy, Jeff Samardzija, Sonny Gray, Jacob Faria), but the hitters I've highlighted lately are sort of turning their seasons around (Josh Bell, Matt Chapman, Evan Gattis).
This is the risk I took when I chose to cover standard league viable players. Keep this in mind when you[...]

Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman joined the HR derby after the game was out of hand in the 10-5 win over the Blue Jays. His eighth homer was a two-run shot off of John Axford in the sixth inning. Chapman started the year off great but has had a long cold spell which diminished his stats and caused some owners to consider dropping him. The last seven days, however, has resulted in seven runs, two homers and six RBI for Chapman. His 42.4% hard hit rate will result in his fair share of [...]

Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman has a multi-hit game in a 5-3 win over the Red Sox Tuesday. This was his second consecutive multi-hit game and was much needed since he is batting .178 over the last two weeks after starting the year off strong. Chapman finished the night 2-for-3 with a run, two RBI and a double. He is an offensive force so don't give up on the Athletics' young third baseman.
Matt Chapman Pulled Early For Rest rotoballer.com Tue 5/8/18 5:50 AM
Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman was pulled early from Monday game against Astros after only two at-bats. The decision was made easier when the Athletics were down by 11 runs. Chapman has played every inning of every game thus far so the rest was likely needed. He has been struggling while only batting .156 with 12 runs, three homers, and seven RBI in the last 30 days. If you can, bench him until he gets back on track; the next two series against the Yankees and Red Sox will present [...]
