Rangers manager Jeff Banister suggested Friday that Bush would remain as the Rangers' primary option for save situations, Barry Horn of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Rangers activated Sam Dyson (hand) from the disabled list ahead of the team's weekend series with the Angels, but Banister indicated that the former closer would be in store for setup work going forward following his rough start to the season. While Banister didn't officially label Bush as the Rangers' new closer, his quote essentially confirms as much. Bush has seen only one save opportunity since assuming ninth-inning duties, but possesses the skills to hold down the job for the long haul. Blessed with a high-90s fastball and excellent control, Bush has gotten off to a dominant start to 2017, amassing a 2.08 WHIP, 0.69 WHIP and 13:1 K:BB ratio over 8.2 innings.

Bush tossed a scoreless ninth inning and struck out one batter en route to his first save of the season in Sunday's 5-2 victory over the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
After picking up the win in relief a night earlier, Bush was able to close the door Sunday in what was the Rangers' first save opportunity since Sam Dyson (hand) was placed on the disabled list and removed from the ninth-inning role. Manager Jeff Banister hasn't suggested that the Rangers will take a committee approach to closing duties, so it appears Bush will see nearly all the save opportunities so long as he's able to avoid any hiccups. Bush should give the Rangers plenty of stability at the back end of the bullpen after following up his impressive rookie campaign with a 2.35 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 12:1 K:BB ratio through his first 7.2 innings of 2017.

Bush is first in line for saves in the absence of Sam Dyson, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bush has struck out eight and walked just one over 4.2 innings of work this season, picking up right where he left off last year (2.48 ERA, 0.94 WHIP over 61.2 innings). Bush also has the high-90s velocity we've come to expect from the modern closer, so his selection should come as no surprise. If Bush falters, expect Jeremy Jeffress to be the next man up.

Bush (shoulder) struck out the side in his return to the mound Sunday against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
With a one-week layoff between appearances, Bush came back and was sharp Sunday prior to another rough outing from Sam Dyson. The Rangers could turn to Bush as their new closer, as he was sitting at 97-98 mph during Sunday's game while throwing all fastballs in the 11-pitch effort.

Bush (shoulder) is considered doubtful for Friday's game and questionable for Saturday and Sunday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is a positive development for Bush, as there was talk of a DL stint pending his evaluation Friday. Bush was seen throwing on the field prior to Friday's game and it sounds like he's a possibility for the final two games of the series. With Sam Dyson struggling, Bush could see chances in the ninth inning upon his return, although Dyson has not been formally removed from the closer role. Tony Barnette and Jeremy Jeffress loom as well as possible endgame options for manager Jeff Banister.

Bush (shoulder) will be evaluated when he rejoins the team Friday, at which point he could be placed on the DL, MLB.com's TR Sullivan reports.
EDGE Analysis
He will join the team in Seattle this weekend after getting an injection in his shoulder on Wednesday. Once the team doctors examine him, a decision about the next step will be made, which could lead to a DL stint. Obviously this is horrible timing for Bush's owners, as they correctly drafted him with the foresight that Sam Dyson might not be long for the closer role, yet he may not be healthy in time to get a crack at the job, at least in the short term.

Bush is getting his shoulder examined in Texas after experiencing pain in the AC joint area, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
This ailment comes at a terrible time for Bush, as he seemed like a candidate to pick up some saves given the recent struggles of incumbent closer Sam Dyson. Grant also noted that he's expected to receive an injection in his shoulder, rendering him unavailable until Friday's matchup with the Mariners. At this point, Bush is not expected to require a DL stint, but this situation is worth monitoring in the coming days.

Manager Jeff Banister said following Tuesday's game that Bush was "unavailable," the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Banister said Bush's 29-pitch outing Sunday may have had something to do with it, but it's possible he's nursing some sort of minor injury or illness. Closer Sam Dyson has been atrocious to start the year, so if Bush has an injury, it's a poorly timed one, as he has a chance to take over the ninth inning if he's healthy.

Bush struck out the side in an inning against minor leaguers Sunday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although Bush has made just a pair of Cactus League appearances this spring, with the last coming back on March 19, there was never any mention of injury or any suggestion he might not be ready for Opening Day. Using a fastball that averaged 97 mph and effective breaking pitches, the former No. 1 overall pick struck batters out at a 25.1 percent clip last season, while posting a walk rate of just 5.8 percent. He will be stuck in a setup role in front of Sam Dyson to begin the 2017 campaign, but Bush has appeal in deep leagues because of the ratios and strikeouts and even in standard leagues for those speculating on saves.

Bush got the call in the ninth inning Wednesday, and he mowed down the Rockies neatly in order with a strikeout for his first career save.
EDGE Analysis
Regular closer Sam Dyson had pitched three of the last four days, as had recently acquired setup man Jeremy Jeffress, while Jake Diekman was called upon in the eighth. That left Bush, who's a pretty darn good fourth option, considering his 2.56 ERA and 34:9 K:BB over 39.2 innings. He'll return to holds duty moving forward, but the 30-year-old has closer potential even if it'll be hard for him to realize it in the Rangers' crowded bullpen.
