Rangers manager Jeff Banister suggested Friday that Bush would remain as the Rangers' primary option for save situations, Barry Horn of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Rangers activated Sam Dyson (hand) from the disabled list ahead of the team's weekend series with the Angels, but Banister indicated that the former closer would be in store for setup work going forward following his rough start to the season. While Banister didn't officially label Bush as the Rangers' new closer, his quote essentially confirms as much. Bush has seen only one save opportunity since assuming ninth-inning duties, but possesses the skills to hold down the job for the long haul. Blessed with a high-90s fastball and excellent control, Bush has gotten off to a dominant start to 2017, amassing a 2.08 WHIP, 0.69 WHIP and 13:1 K:BB ratio over 8.2 innings.
