Barnett allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Royals on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
This was the longest of Barnett's five starts in the majors so far, and the lone mistake he made was a three-run home run by Jonathan India in the fourth inning. Through 22.1 innings in the majors, Barnett has posted a 6.85 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 18:11 K:BB while also allowing three home runs. The right-hander will contend for a rotation spot next year, but he could be entering a crowded battle depending on how much turnover the Athletics go through in the offseason.

Barnett didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's loss against the Red Sox, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two over four innings
EDGE Analysis
The rookie right-hander gave up a run in the first inning before serving up a solo homer to Rob Refsnyder in the second. While he managed to avoid further damage, Barnett has now surrendered 14 runs in just 16.2 innings since his call-up, struggling to find consistency at the major-league level to the tune of a 7.56 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB across four starts. The 24-year-old has only tallied more than four innings once in those four outings. Barnett is slated to face the Astros in his next scheduled start.

Barnett did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk across 3.2 innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Barnett's major-league career has gotten off to a rocky start -- the right-hander's given up 12 runs across 12.2 innings in his first three starts. Barnett is currently scheduled to face the Red Sox again on the road in his next start, though it's unclear how long he'll remain in the rotation with Jacob Lopez (elbow) expected to return before the end of the season.

Barnett (1-1) allowed four runs on three hits and five walks while striking out eight over five innings to earn the win versus the Angels on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The Athletics' third-inning explosion gave Barnett enough run support, and the rookie right-hander was able to grind out five innings on 102 pitches (55 strikes) to secure his first win in the majors. It was still far from an encouraging performance for the 24-year-old, who has now given up nine runs with a 9:5 K:BB over his first nine innings in the majors. The Athletics are far out of the wild-card race and have a handful of injuries in the rotation, so there's some room for Barnett to learn on the job. He's tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Red Sox.

Barnett is slated to start Friday's game against the Angels in Anaheim.
EDGE Analysis
After being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas, Barnett made his first MLB start this past Saturday, taking a loss to the Rangers while allowing five earned runs on eight hits and no walks over four innings. The 25-year-old righty will get a chance to redeem himself Friday, but another poor showing could put him at risk of losing his spot in the Athletics rotation.
