Updating a previous report, Gonzalez is out of Sunday's lineup due to a sore left foot, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez was struck in the foot with a pitch during Saturday night's game, and although the team is hopeful about his availability off the bench Sunday, they will keep him out of the starting lineup as a precaution. Gonzalez had just been starting to heat up at the plate, so hopefully the ailment doesn't significantly halt that progress. The team has an off day Monday, so look for Gonzalez to be available once again when the As host Atlanta for a brief, two-game series that begins Tuesday.

Gonzalez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez has made three starts in a row, all at different positions, but will take a seat for Sunday afternoon's series finale. His hot bat had kept him in the lineup, as he ended April with a .204 average, but a six-game hitting streak has boosted that mark up to .271. Gonzalez isn't necessarily on the verge of becoming an every day player, but if he keeps up this offensive showing, manager A.J. Hinch will continue to find ways to work him into the lineup.

Gonzalez's hot bat has manager A.J. Hinch finding a spot in the lineup daily, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports. "I'm not keeping him out of the lineup," Hinch said. "I'm finding ways to get him in and it's costing other guys playing time."
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez went deep again in Thursday's loss, making it four straight games with a home run. He's played three infield positions and two in the outfield this season. Add in his ability to hit from both sides of the plate and it's not too difficult for Hinch find a spot for him.

Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, a double and a home run in Wednesday's 10-1 win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
The multi-positioned Gonzalez is putting the "super" in super utility as Wednesday's bomb was his team-leading eighth of the season. His HR/FB rate is a ridiculous 47.1 percent; he's hit homers while playing first base, second base, third base and left field; and he's hit homers batting second, seventh, eighth and ninth in the lineup. His career high came in 2016 when he thumped 13 homers, so there's no track record for the kind of power we're seeing in 2017 and no reason to believe it will sustain over the course of the season.

Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two home runs, including the game-winning grand slam, in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
The switch-hitting Gonzalez, who started in left field with a left-hander on the bump for Texas, homered from both sides of the dish. His fifth-inning bomb ended the night of left-handed Alex Claudio, a reliever that got the call when starter Cole Hamels (oblique) was scratched. Gonzalez topped off the night with a grand slam in the eighth off right-hander Keone Kela, erasing the Rangers' two-run lead and giving Houston another come-from-behind win. Gonzalez has been streaky through the first month of the season and is currently in a good one. He's 7-for-15 with four homers and 11 RBI over his last five games.

Gonzalez went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez, who started in place of third baseman Alex Bregman, hit his fifth homer of the season, second only to George Springer on the roster. The power has been there for Gonzalez with six of his 11 hits having gone for extra bases, but overall he hasn't hit much through 21 games (.204).

Gonzalez started at second base in place of the injured Jose Altuve (shoulder) on Wednesday and went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Houston's 7-6 loss to Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
The slumping Gonzalez reached base safely via a hit for the first time in nine games. The utility infielder entered Wednesday's game on a 1-for-27 skein over the last 11 games. His spot at second base is expected to end Thursday. The Astros exercised caution with Altuve who was available off the bench Wednesday, which suggests the shoulder injury he suffered during Tuesday's game is not too severe.

Gonzalez started at third base Monday while Alex Bregman slid over to shortstop to take the place of the injured Carlos Correa (hand). He went 0-for-2 with a walk and committed an error in Houston's 3-0 win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez's bat was prominent to start the season when the Astros offense was in a deep funk, however, he's cooled off since then. A 1-for-15 stretch over the last five games leaves his batting average at .200.

Gonzalez started at first base Friday and went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in Houston's 7-2 win over Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
For those counting at home, Gonzalez has started seven of Houston's 11 games so far, making appearances at first base, third base and left field. So far, he's getting about 15 at-bats a week but that usage has been tied to a hot start (three homers, six RBI). He's cooled off a bit since (one hit in last 13 ABs) while the rest of the lineup is heating up, so Gonzalez may see a reduction in opportunities this coming week.

Gonzalez made his third consecutive start Monday and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in a 6-0 loss to Seattle. It was his second straight starting in left field.
EDGE Analysis
The Astros were facing a left-hander Monday and it doesn't take much cause for A.J. Hinch to bench Norichika Aoki or Josh Reddick. Gonzalez has hit three homers and had knocked in runs in his four starts prior to Monday. As long as the bat holds up, he could be in the lineup four-to-five times a week.
