Mulder (Achilles) will not attempt another comeback in 2015, ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports.
At this point, it appears his playing career is over. Mulder ruptured his Achilles tendon performing agility drills last February.

Mark Mulder wants to attempt another comeback.
"Barring a setback, or me not being able to pitch with my ankle for some reason, I don't see why not," Mulder said. "My arm's still going to be the same next year." The Angels released Mark Mulder on Tuesday after he ruptured his left Achilles in mid-February while doing agility drills. The 36-year-old, who hasn't thrown an MLB pitch since 2008, signed a minor league contract with Los Angeles in January. "My concern is it's now another year where I'm not facing hitters," Mulder added. "I'm not in that game situation. I don't know how I'll approach it, whether I might make a few starts at winter ball -- I really have no idea. But I do feel that as soon as I'm capable and ready, I would like to find a way to get into games somehow."

Angels released LHP Mark Mulder.
Mulder's comeback bid fell short before it really began when he ruptured his left Achilles in mid-February while doing agility drills. The 36-year-old, who hasn't thrown an MLB pitch since 2008, signed a minor league contract with the Angels in January. He'll presumably return to television work, another career that suits him.

Mark Mulder will undergo left Achilles surgery on February 25.
Mulder revealed the news himself on Twitter. The rehab for the left-hander will take 5-8 months and will keep him out for the 2014 season, but he hasn't ruled out trying a comeback again in 2015.

Mark Mulder will need 5-8 months of rehab to recover from left Achilles surgery.
Mulder will not pitch in 2014 but hasn't ruled out a comeback in 2015. "Yesterday was a hard day," the left-hander said Sunday. "I've worked hard to get to this point, felt really good about where I was at, all the things I was doing." Mulder was attempting a comeback after sitting out the last five seasons due to shoulder issues.

Mark Mulder suffered a ruptured left Achilles while doing agility drills, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
The Angels aren't anticipating the results of an MRI until Sunday, but if DiGiovanna's report is true, it's a huge blow to Mulder's comeback chances. The 36-year-old signed a minor league contract with the Angels in January. He hasn't thrown in a major league game since 2008.

Mark Mulder suffered an ankle injury during warmups on Saturday, and is unlikely to make his scheduled bullpen session.
The severity of the injury remains unknown, but the team should have an update on his status shortly. It's unlikely that this injury sets him back very far in his comeback attempt.

Mark Mulder threw a couple of 100-pitch simulated games in mid-January.
He then backed off after that, throwing 40-pitch bullpen sessions twice a week in preparation for spring training. "Now I know I'm ready," Mulder said. "Absolutely. I've never thrown this much coming into a spring training, but I also don't know if I've ever been this prepared, either, just because of everything I've done." Mulder, 36, hasn't pitched since July 9, 2008, but is attempting a comeback this year with the Angels. He'll compete with Joe Blanton and Tyler Skaggs for the last spot in the Angels rotation.

A scout that saw a Mark Mulder throwing session told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal that "it would surprise (him)" if the lefty didn't contribute to the Angels in 2014.
The scout said that Mulder was throwing 87-92 mph with good sink and a good changeup in the session, adding that the lefty is in great shape and remains a terrific athlete. Mulder has decided to make a comeback attempt at the age of 36, as he'll try to crack the Angels' rotation. He hasn't pitched in a big league game since 2008 and hasn't been effective since 2005.

Mark Mulder's deal with the Angels could top $6 million if he meets all the incentives, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.
The minor league portion of the deal is worth $1 million. Given the incentives, it's fair to assume Mulder will at least be given a chance to start for the Angels. It's a longshot to assume Mulder could return and be a viable starter at age 36, but the Angels obviously liked what they saw at the southpaw's throwing session.
