This is of course not what the Cubs expected when they signed Stroman to a three-year, $71 million deal over the winter, but he still has plenty of time to turn things around. The tough outing pushed Stroman's season ERA to 6.00, though better days should be ahead. He lines up to face the Rays on Wednesday in his next scheduled start.

Despite throwing just 42 of his 79 pitches for strikes, Stroman was sharp during his team debut. The right-hander has shown improvement in each of his last two seasons, most recently posting a 3.02 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 179 innings during 33 starts with the Mets last year. This is how the two pitchers have operated in spring training, so this alignment for the regular season is not surprising. Even if Hendricks is technically the No. 1 starter, Stroman may end up being the better fantasy asset based on his stronger numbers from a season ago.
