Stroman (illness) is listed as the Cubs' probable starting pitcher for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks in Chicago, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stroman cleared all COVID-19-related protocols Tuesday and rejoined the team, but the Cubs will give him two days to regain conditioning before formally reinstating him from the COVID-19-related injured list Thursday. Because Stroman didn't complete a rehab assignment beforehand and hasn't started since May 1 before landing on the IL, the Cubs could limit his workload more than usual in his return to action.

Stroman cleared COVID-19 protocols Tuesday but has yet to be activated off the injured list, Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stroman has been on the injured list for over a week and hasn't pitched since May 1. He threw a bullpen session Tuesday, per Jordan Bastian of MLB.com, but it's unclear if his absence is long enough that the Cubs will require a rehab outing before he returns to the roster, but the righty's next steps should be revealed soon.

Stroman (undisclosed) played catch Saturday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stroman has been on the COVID-19 injured list since Sunday. His expected return date is unclear, but the fact that he's ready for some activity suggests he may not miss too much more time.

Stroman (undisclosed) was placed on the injured list Sunday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move doesn't include an injury designation, which likely means Stroman's absence is related to COVID-19. Assuming that's the case, the 31-year-old can be activated as soon as he clears the MLB's testing protocols. He was scheduled to start Sunday against the Dodgers, but Justin Steele will instead take the mound for the Cubs.

Stroman (1-3) tossed seven scoreless innings to earn the win Sunday against the Brewers. He allowed two hits and a walk while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
The Brewers came into Sunday's contest on a five-game winning streak and had scored 38 runs in that span, so Stroman's first win with the Cubs was certainly impressive. He also outdueled 2021 Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes, who allowed only two runs across his seven innings. Stroman has gotten off to a slow start with a 5.13 ERA through five starts, though his last two outings have been better, allowing just two earned runs across 13 innings. The righty will look to keep it rolling in his next scheduled start Saturday against the Dodgers.

Stroman (0-3) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits across six innings to take the loss Tuesday against Atlanta. He had no walks and struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Stroman pitched a lot better than he had his previous two starts, but the Cubs only mustered one run of support, leaving the righty still searching for his first win with his new team. Because of those rough two outings, when he allowed 12 earned runs across 8.1 innings, Stroman is saddled with a 6.98 ERA for the season. He'll look to keep whittling that down in his next scheduled start Sunday against the Brewers.

Stroman (0-2) allowed eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits across 4.1 innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Rays. He walked two and struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
The strikeouts are the only silver lining here, as Stroman struggled for the second straight start. In those outings, the righty has allowed 12 earned runs in just 8.1 innings, which has pushed his season ERA to 8.78. This is of course not what the Cubs expected when they signed Stroman to a three-year, $71 million deal over the winter, but he still has plenty of time to turn things around. The 30-year-old will look to get back on track in his next scheduled start Tuesday against Atlanta.

Stroman (0-1) allowed five runs on six hits across four innings to take the loss Friday against the Rockies. He walked one and struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
As is the case with many pitchers, Stroman struggled to find his footing at Coors Field. The righty actually looked good through three innings, but the Rockies tallied five runs on four hits and a walk in the fourth inning. The big blow was a three-run home run by Alan Trejo. The tough outing pushed Stroman's season ERA to 6.00, though better days should be ahead. He lines up to face the Rays on Wednesday in his next scheduled start.

Stroman allowed a run on two hits and three walks while striking out three in five innings during Sunday's loss to the Brewers. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Despite throwing just 42 of his 79 pitches for strikes, Stroman was sharp during his team debut. He was unable to pick up the win since the Cubs' bullpen surrendered the 3-1 lead following his departure, but his debut was certainly encouraging. The right-hander has shown improvement in each of his last two seasons, most recently posting a 3.02 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 179 innings during 33 starts with the Mets last year. Stroman tentatively lines up to make his next start at hitter-friendly Coors Field against the Rockies on Friday.

With Kyle Hendricks being named the Opening Day starter, per Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network, Stroman should work as the Cubs' No. 2 starter.
EDGE Analysis
This is how the two pitchers have operated in spring training, so this alignment for the regular season is not surprising. Even if Hendricks is technically the No. 1 starter, Stroman may end up being the better fantasy asset based on his stronger numbers from a season ago.
