Mayer (wrist) was placed on the 7-day minor-league injured list Sunday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mayer dealt with a wrist injury for several weeks in late April and early May, but he recently returned to the field and went 6-for-18 with four doubles, three RBI and a stolen base. The 19-year-old hasn't experienced increased severity, but he'll land on the IL and undergo further testing since the injury hasn't gone away. It's not yet clear when Mayer will be able to return to game action.

Mayer (wrist) started at shortstop and went 3-for-6 with three doubles and two RBI on Sunday in Single-A Salem's 8-7 loss to Delmarva.
EDGE Analysis
Mayer missed approximately two-and-a-half weeks when his sore right wrist first cropped up in late April, but his latest aggravation of the injury didn't cause nearly as long of an absence. He was out of the lineup for four days before returning to action Sunday and providing a season-high three extra-base hits. Assuming he experienced no setbacks coming out of Sunday's contest, Mayer should be capable of handling an everyday role at Salem moving forward.

Mayer continues to deal with right wrist soreness and will miss a fourth consecutive game for Single-A Salem on Saturday, Steve Hewitt of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
It sounds like he is day-to-day and could get back in the lineup Sunday, per Alex Speier of The Boston Globe. Mayer returned to action May 10 after missing a little over two weeks, but he has not played in a game since then. The top prospect has a 37.2 percent strikeout rate over his last 39 at-bats, which will be something to monitor once he is healthy.

Mayer (wrist) served as Single-A Salem's designated hitter in Tuesday's 1-0 win over Delmarva and went 1-for-4 with his fourth stolen base of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Mayer was sidelined for about two and a half weeks at Salem due to a sore right wrist before he was cleared to return to action Monday. Though he was eased back into the mix as a DH on Monday, it shouldn't be long before he's cleared to resume playing shortstop.

Mayer has missed a week of action with a sore right wrist, Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox don't know exactly how Mayer picked up the injury, but they have taken the cautious route with one of their top prospects. He will miss a few more days, but the injury is not considered serious, so it should not be too long before he is back in the lineup.

Mayer picked up five plate appearances for the Red Sox this spring, going 0-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
He's 19 and has never played above rookie ball, so no one expected Mayer to put up numbers in spring training. Last year's No. 4 overall draft pick, he's expected to open 2022 in Low-A, and it'll be worth watching to see whether he can maintain last season's impressive walk rate (14 percent) while getting to his power more often in game action.

Mayer agreed to a contract Thursday with the Red Sox that contains a $6.66 million signing bonus, Chad Jennings of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mayer, an 18-year-old shortstop from Chula Vista, Calif., was the No. 4 overall pick in this year's first-year player draft. After signing, Mayer took batting practice and participated in fielding drills prior to Thursday's game against the Yankees. The next stop is Fort Myers, where the 18-year-old will prepare for his professional debut in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.
