Smith (hamstring) put in his rehab work in extended spring training Monday and is scheduled to play for High-A Charlotte on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The speedster is thus due to jump back into game action a week after he resumed running and six days after starting batting practice in his rehab process. Smith is still on track to rejoin the Rays later in the week assuming no setbacks.

Smith (hamstring) did not begin his rehab stint with High-A Charlotte on Sunday as planned due to the game being rained out, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The speedy outfielder's recovery from his hamstring injury had gone off without a hitch thus far, but Mother Nature had her say Sunday. Smith has been running since last Tuesday and began taking batting practice the next day, so a few days of game action represent the final piece of the puzzle before a return to the Rays. Smith had made a notable impact with his speed during the eight games he appeared in before his injury, so his presence will provide Tampa with a disruptive element that no other player currently on the roster can match.

Smith (hamstring) could begin a rehab assignment as soon as Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The speed demon is reportedly doing very well in his recovery from hamstring tightness, so the Rays are optimistic that they can plug him into game action relatively soon. It's unclear how long they plan to have him on said assignment, but things should become clearer once he actually embarks on the rehab stint.

Smith (hamstring) will take batting practice Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith has been dealing with the issue for almost a week now, but has progressed recently, taking batting practice Wednesday and beginning a running program Tuesday. The 24-year-old appeared in eight games and was 6-for-22 with three stolen bases before going down. Corey Dickerson has been starting in left field recently for the Rays.

Smith (hamstring) began a running program Tuesday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith is still experiencing some tightness while running, so he'll remain sidelined until he's over that, though it appears he's inching closer to returning to the Rays. He still remains without a timetable, but that should become clearer as he continues to ramp up his activity.

The Rays placed Smith on the 10-day disabled list Friday with right hamstring tightness.
EDGE Analysis
They also transferred reliever Brad Boxberger (flexor strain) to the 60-day disabled list. Smith, meanwhile, will get a breather after exiting Thursday's game. The timing is a shame, considering he had stolen three bases in his first eight games. This could open the door for Colby Rasmus (groin) to return from the DL, perhaps to split time in left field with Peter Bourjos on a platoon basis. Rasmus could see a brief bump in value for deep-mixed fantasy leagues. Bourjos could be worth an add in some of those formats as well but chiefly will contribute a tad more in AL-only.

Smith exited Thursday's game against the Yankees with right hamstring tightness.
EDGE Analysis
The speedy outfielder appeared to tweak his hamstring on the base paths during a rundown in Thursday's contest, and while he was temporarily able to stay in the game, the Rays ultimately replaced him with Peter Bourjos in left field. The team has yet to comment on his availability for Friday's series opener in Boston, but if Smith is unable to give it a go, Corey Dickerson or Bourjos could take over in left against Rick Porcello.

Smith (undisclosed) has come out of Thursday's game against the Yankees, Steve Carney of 680 WDAE reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peter Bourjos has come on to replace Smith in the third inning of Thursday's game after Smith appeared to tweak something on the base paths. Smith stayed in the game for the remainder of the inning, but manager Kevin Cash has since opted to remove him from the contest. More information on Smith's status figures to be made available later Thursday, but he should be considered day-to-day heading into Friday's series opener against the Red Sox.

Smith is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The speedster had himself a game over the weekend, getting on base five times and stealing two bases in a win over the Yankees, but he's done little else of note so far this season. While Smith should continue to play regularly against right-handers until Colby Rasmus (groin) is back, he will be shielded from lefties, and he's little more than a one-category play when he is in the lineup.

Smith went 2-for-2 with a double, run, three walks and two stolen bases in Saturday's 3-2 extra-inning victory over the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
This was precisely the type of stat line that exemplifies the value that Smith brings, despite the ups-and-downs he'll inevitably experience as he develops as a big-league hitter. He displayed outstanding plate discipline Saturday and was a thorn in the side of Blue Jays pitching throughout the night, swiping second on a pair of occasions and leading off the bottom of the 11th with a double. He eventually scored the winning run on Brad Miller's bases-loaded walk, and he's now hit safely in three of the first four games.
