The 20-year-old southpaw made a return trip to Single-A to start the year and showed significant gains over 21 innings in six starts. Bruns' 14.8 percent walk rate was still quite high, but it represented a significant improvement for him, and his 1.29 ERA and 37.5 percent strikeout rate warranted a bump in competition.

The left-handed hurler was Los Angeles' first-round pick in the 2021 First-Year Player Draft. The prep pitcher had previously committed to Mississippi State but ultimately agreed to join the Dodgers organization for just under his slot value of $2.4 million.
