Castillo didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Astros after allowing five hits and two walks in five scoreless innings, striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo notably escaped a bases-loaded jam in the fourth inning by getting Cam Smith to fly out. The right-hander scattered five singles and was also able to register his first scoreless start of the campaign Tuesday, but he did labor his way through five frames while needing 102 pitches to complete the outing. Castillo features a 2.12 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB over his first three starts (17 innings) of 2025, and he's tentatively set to face his former Reds team at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park early next week.

Castillo (1-1) came away with the win Wednesday against the Tigers. He allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five across seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo limited the Tigers to three baserunners across the first four innings, but his shutout efforts were lost in the fifth frame when he gave up a solo homer to Trey Sweeney. Castillo gave up a second run in the same frame on a fielder's choice, but he managed to pitch into the seventh inning without much trouble and came away with the quality start and win. Castillo has started the season with a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB across 12 innings. He'll look for a second straight win in his next start, which is tentatively slated for next week against the Astros at home.

Castillo (0-1) was charged with the loss Friday against the Athletics after giving up two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo kept the A's off the board until the fifth inning, when a Lawrence Butler double followed by a Brent Rooker home run put his team in a 2-0 hole. Unfortunately for Castillo, the Athletics' pitching staff was able to keep the Mariners off the board for the whole game, so the 32-year-old will end up starting the year with a loss despite a respectable effort on his part. He'll hope for a bit more run support when the Tigers come to town next week.

Castillo didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's Cactus League game against San Diego after giving up two runs on five hits over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
After throwing three scoreless innings Saturday, Castillo watched Gavin Sheets go deep for one run and Connor Joe hit a double to plate another in the fourth frame. While Castillo has struggled with the long ball this spring, allowing three homers across 12.2 innings, he encouragingly hasn't yielded greater than two runs in any of his four Cactus League starts. The 32-year-old right-hander will have the benefit of working about half of his outings in 2025 at the pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park, where Castillo boasts a 2.89 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 279 strikeouts through 233.2 innings (39 starts) since joining the Mariners in 2022.

Castillo (hamstring) tossed a bullpen session Monday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo finished last season on the injured list after sustaining a Grade 2 left hamstring strain during his final start Sept. 8, but he appears to be facing no restrictions in the early stages of spring training. The Mariners will once again be looking to Castillo to serve as a workhorse at the top of the rotation after he made at least 30 starts in both of his first two full seasons in Seattle. Before he was shut down with the hamstring injury, Castillo went 11-12 and turned in a 3.64 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 175:47 K:BB across 175.1 innings.

Castillo (hamstring) is making good progress and has thrown off a mound, but he's not expected to return from the 15-day injured list for the Mariners' three-game series in Houston that begins Monday, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Seattle has confirmed Bryce Miller as its starter for Monday's series opener in Houston, and Logan Gilbert and George Kirby are considered "most likely" to go Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. That means Castillo likely won't return from the IL when first eligible, but he's still very much in the mix to make a final regular-season start against Oakland later in the week. Castillo currently sits with a 3.64 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 175.1 innings this season.

Castillo appears to be progressing consistently from his hamstring strain, and the Mariners remain cautiously optimistic he'll be activated when first eligible Monday, MLB.com reports. "Progressing as he should be," manager Dan Wilson said. "I don't think there's any expected date, right now, of his return, but progressing as he has. I know Luis is very diligent about getting his work in and trying to get healthy, and I think as far as we know right now, he's doing well."
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander has been sidelined since Sept. 8, when he suffered the strain while ducking out of the way of a throw on a stolen-base attempt. Castillo's ability to make at least one more start down the stretch could be critical for the Mariners, who remain in contention for an AL wild-card spot entering the season's final week. Castillo has once again proven a consistent workhorse of Seattle's rotation this season, going 11-12 with a 3.64 ERA and 1.17 WHIP across 175.1 innings over 30 starts.

Castillo was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander already received a platelet-rich-plasma injection and hopes to be available after spending the 15-day minimum on the shelf. Even in a best-case scenario, Castillo will only be able to rejoin the Mariners for one or maybe two starts before the end of the regular season. Seattle is currently three games back of the final AL wild-card spot and is tied with two other teams, and the playoff positioning could affect how quickly the organization elects to bring Castillo back.

Castillo (hamstring) will undergo an MRI on his left hamstring on Monday in Seattle, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo left Sunday's start against the Cardinals as a result of a left hamstring strain. He will now receive additional imaging on the leg to determine the severity of the injury. Manager Dan Wilson did not speculate if he believed that Castillo will be able to make his next scheduled start or not, but more information on Castillo's status will come Monday.

Castillo was removed from Sunday's game against the Cardinals due to a left hamstring strain, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander had a good chance to pick up a win Sunday as Seattle scored seven runs across the first two frames, but Castillo was lifted due to the hamstring injury after giving up two runs across three innings. The severity of the issue isn't known, and it's unclear if the 31-year-old will be able to make his next turn through the rotation next weekend versus the Rangers.
