Kyle Seager hit a pair of home runs and drove home four, but it wasn't enough to overcome James Shields and the Rays on Wednesday. Seager finished the night 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI. He connected on a three-run blast off Shields in the first inning to get the Mariners on the board, then added a solo blast in the sixth to tie the game at four. He made the start at third base, and could continue to get more looks there as Chone Figgins platoons in the outfield. As long as he's receiving regular playing time, Seager could be a decent injury fill-in for those in deeper leagues.

Kyle Seager got the start at second base and hit his first homer Thursday against the Rangers. Seager is going to need to stay in Seattle's lineup after Mike Carp and Franklin Gutierrez return, though the team's desire to eventually shed a part of Chone Figgins' contract could supersede the idea of putting the best team on the field. Seager is 9-for-28 with six RBI in seven games.

Kyle Seager went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI in Monday's loss to the Rangers. Seager got the M's on the board in the first inning off Yu Darvish with a two-run single and added an RBI double in the next frame. With Chone Figgins settling into left field while Mike Carp is on the DL, Seager has been the regular third baseman. He's batting .438 with five RBI over his first four games.

Kyle Seager hit three doubles in five at-bats Tuesday against Cincinnati. The feat gives him six extra-base hits in 40 at-bats, lifting his batting average to .350. However, his 0/9 BB/K ratio is a tad disconcerting, as he averaged three strikeouts per walk during his 53-game major league debut last season.

Kyle Seager went 2-for-3 with a home run Saturday in a Cactus League game against the Dodgers. Seager is 6-for-17 (.353) this spring with two home runs and three RBI. The 24-year-old could see a good chunk of playing time at third base in the early part of the regular season if Chone Figgins is asked to play center field in place of the injured Franklin Gutierrez.

Kyle Seager went 3-for-3 with a homer and two RBI against the Padres on Sunday. Seager appeared to be out of luck when Mariners manager Eric Wedge declared Chone Figgins his team's third baseman and leadoff hitter, but with Franklin Gutierrez down, Figgins is getting a look at center, giving Seager new life at third. He's the club's best option there against right-handers.

Kyle Seager has made an alteration with his swing that he hopes produces more power. "I have a little tuck in my front shoulder now, that helps me get to the pitch more where I want to hit it," Seager said. "I like my swing path, I like the kind of hitter I am. I'm not a power hitter, but I'm seeing balls that carry on the line more. That's exciting." Seager is a career .328/.401/.474 hitter in the minors but has just 22 homers over 1,245 plate appearances. Hopefully his altered swing will give him a little more pop, but we're not expecting a drastic difference, especially in Safeco. Seager isn't a lock to make the Opening Day roster.

According to the Seattle Times, Kyle Seager isn't a lock to make the Mariners roster. Seager has options left and his performance last season wasn't quite strong enough to guarantee him a spot on the 25-man roster. Chone Figgins isn't going anywhere and could be the team's leadoff hitter. The Marlins could also opt to give recently signed Carlos Guillen a roster spot as long as he can stay healthy.

Mariners recalled 3B Kyle Seager from Triple-A Tacoma. Seager went 3-for-22 (.136) with seven strikeouts in seven games with the big club earlier this season, but he's batting .338/.404/.501 with seven homers between Double- and Triple-A. He should see plenty of time at third base while Chone Figgins is out.

Mariners optioned INF Kyle Seager to Triple-A Tacoma. He was sent out to make room for Josh Lueke on the active roster. The Mariners were hoping that Seager would give a jolt to their offense, but he went 3-for-22 (.136) with seven strikeouts in seven games with the big club. Look for him to return later this summer.
