It seems as though this move has nothing to do with an undisclosed injury, but manager Scott Servais is hoping this will clear the third baseman's head. In his place, Taylor Motter will man the hot corner and bat ninth.

Seager's bat finally seems to be coming alive after a mostly sluggish first half, as he's now homered in two straight games and three of his last six overall. After attempting to bunt on the previous pitch, Seager blasted a 2-2 fastball from Phillies starter Mark Leiter, Jr over the center field fence for his ninth home run. After three straight seasons of 25 or more home runs, Seager is well below that pace in 2017. His batting average (.253) and slugging percentage (.414) are at career-low levels, too. Despite the struggles, Seager is too good of a hitter to struggle all year, and he should find a way to get his numbers closer to his career averages.

Seager has driven in 14 runs overall in June, with four of those coming in the last three contests. The one area in which he's seen some regression has been home runs, as the 29-year-old's seven round trippers through 299 plate appearances put him on pace for his lowest total since he hit 20 in 2012.

Seagers was a two-bagger machine Sunday, hitting two off Rangers starter Yu Darvish. This performance came at just the right time for Seager, who entered the day with just five hits over his previous seven games (32 at-bats).

Seager went 2-for-6 with two RBI from a fielder's choice and a single in Monday's 14-3 win over the Twins.

The veteran has hit his stride at the plate, posting four multi-hit efforts in his last seven games and hitting safely in seven of the last eight contests overall. While Seager remains considerably off the home-run pace he established last season when he blasted a career-high 30 round trippers, his current hard contact rate of 38.2 percent would serve as the second highest of his career over a full season.
