McGrath cleared waivers Saturday and was outrighted to Triple-A El Paso.
EDGE Analysis
This is not a surprise, as his big-league FIP is 4.85 across 23 innings in 2017 and 2018. He will provide organizational bullpen depth going forward.

The Padres designated McGrath for assignment Sunday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The transaction removes McGrath from the Padres' 40-man roster and could foreshadow an addition that may be announced Monday. Prior to being optioned to Triple-A El Paso in mid-April, McGrath made four appearances for the big club, surrendering two runs over four innings.

McGrath was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Since being recalled from the Triple-A level on April 13, McGrath has appeared in two games. Between the two he threw three shutout innings and allowed one hit and a walk while recording three strikeouts. In a corresponding move, Tyler Webb was recalled from El Paso.

McGrath was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty will head to the majors after spending the minimum 10 days in the minors since his last option. The Padres seem intent on continuing to put their relievers on a carousel between the majors, so he very well could be headed back to the minors after a few appearances even if he can show improvement. In a corresponding move, Colten Brewer was sent back to El Paso.

McGrath was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres' needed to open up a spot on their active roster for Tuesday's starter, Tyson Ross, and McGrath was the corresponding roster move. The southpaw, who posted a 2.84 ERA across 19 innings of relief last season, should be back with the big club when additional bullpen depth is required.

McGrath (elbow) recorded one out in Thursday's Opening Day loss to the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
McGrath was slowed by an elbow injury late in camp, but the setback did not prevent him from taking the mound Opening Day. The left-hander figures to work situationally for the Padres out of the gate.

McGrath (elbow) will be on the Padres' Opening Day roster, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McGrath earned a spot in the bullpen even though he's been sidelined for a majority of the past two weeks due to elbow soreness. There hasn't been any word as to weather the left-hander will be available against the Brewers on Thursday, but it's expected that he will return to action in the near future.

McGrath threw a bullpen for the first time since experiencing elbow soreness on March 6, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw had been shut down for the past 10 days due to what was dubbed as "very minor" elbow soreness. McGrath said he felt fine after the session, so he may be able to return to Cactus League action fairly soon. However, this injury could impact his ability to land an Opening Day roster spot out of spring training, as he may not have built up enough innings to be fully ready for the start of the season. Things should become clearer once he gets back into game action, though.

McGrath is in the running for one of the last spots in San Diego's bullpen, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
All McGrath has done is produce out of the bullpen, as he never had an ERA north of 3.00 in the minors. He carried his success into a September callup last year as well, as he posted a 1.46 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP in 12 appearances in that month. His performance wasn't as flashy as fellow reliever Buddy Baumann, but McGrath certainly has a legitimate claim to a spot in the Padres' relief corps.

McGrath was called up by the Padres on Friday, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
McGrath rejoins the Padres during the first wave of September call-ups, and figures to slide back into a low-leverage role within the club's bullpen. During five appearances in the majors this season, he's posted a 5.40 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over 6.2 innings.
