Drabek has signed a minor league deal with the San Francisco Giants, and may potentially move to the infield, Andrew Bagggarly of The Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The intention of this signing is to try the 28-year-old veteran out in the infield. He was the 18th overall pick in the 2006 draft, and was highly regarded as both a pitcher and positional player. However, the organization has not ruled out a return to the mound.

Drabek was assigned to Triple-A Reno on Monday after the Diamondbacks secured outright waivers on him, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Drabek was designated for assignment Friday, but went through waivers unclaimed by another team. He'll stick on with the Diamondbacks organization and act as organizational depth going forward, although he could find his way back to the majors if the Diamondbacks bullpen gets hit with injuries.

Drabek was called up from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Zack Greinke's abbreviated outing Monday taxed the bullpen, and Drabek was needed to provide a fresh arm. Silvino Bracho was optioned and A.J. Pollock (elbow) was placed on the 60-day DL in corresponding moves. Drabek issued six walks and did not record a single strikeout in seven innings with the big club this spring.

Drabek passed through waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports. Drabek was designated for assignment by the club Monday to make room for Carlos Rodon on the 40-man roster. His first three appearances weren't overly impressive, allowing three runs over 5.1 innings. He'll return to the minors, but could be one of the top candidates to rejoin the bullpen should an injury occur.

Drabek was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Monday. Drabek made three appearances in 2015 for the White Sox, allowing three earned runs on nine hits over 5.1 innings. His role as a long reliever was deemed expendable when the team decided to promote 2014 first-round draft pick Carlos Rodon to the Major League roster. Rodon needed both a 40-man roster spot and a role in the bullpen, both of which were stripped of Drabek. He'll now have the option to accept his designation to the Triple-A level, or elect free agency.

Drabek has earned an Opening Day roster spot as the final reliever out of the pen, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Drabek has been worked out as a starter in the past, but will earn his keep this season out of the bullpen in Chicago. He's pitched just 5.1 combined innings in the majors over the last two seasons, but the right-hander brings plenty of strikeout potential to the table. He'll have to pitch his way into earning the opportunity to appear in high-leverage situations, however.

Drabeck remains in the mix for the White Sox's final bullpen spot, the team's official site reports. Either he or Eric Surkamp will emerge from camp as the team's 11th pitcher, which will probably consist of a mix of long- and short-inning work.

Drabek was claimed off waivers by the White Sox on Friday, Jon Morosi of Fox Sports reports. Drabek will now finish out the remainder of camp with the White Sox, likely moving in line for a spot in the bullpen. The White Sox placed Nate Jones on the 60-day disabled list to open up a spot for him on the 40-man roster.

Drabek was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet reports. The Blue Jays will swap out Drabek for Sergio Santos in their bullpen, despite Drabek's solid production since joining the major league squad. The former top starting pitching prospect made two appearances in relief for the Jays, tossing three scoreless innings and striking out five batters. He'll likely be back with Toronto when rosters expand Sept. 1.

Drabek was recalled by the Blue Jays on Saturday. Drabek moved to the bullpen at Triple-A Buffalo in early July, and his last 10 appearances are reflective of his potential (five earned runs on 17 hits and no walks to go with nine strikeouts in 13 innings). Expect the 26-year-old hurler to be contained to low-leverage situations.
