Allard allowed an unearned run on three hits while striking out a batter in two innings out of the bullpen in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Since making a four-inning spot start against the Dodgers on May 28, Allard has shifted back to the bullpen, where he's made his last three appearances for Cleveland. The veteran lefty owns an excellent 1.73 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over 26 innings this season, but he's been getting by on inducing weak contact and avoiding walks rather than making bats miss (10.5 K%).

Allard didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Dodgers, giving up two runs on four hits over four innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Making his first start of the season after seven relief appearances, Allard threw 44 of 62 pitches for strikes but left the mound in line for the loss, only for the Guardians' offense to rally late against Tanner Scott and the Dodgers' bullpen. Allard has been effective as a long reliver and swingman this year, posting a 2.05 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB through 22 innings, but that lack of dominance -- not to mention a 5.71 career ERA in the majors -- makes him a risky fantasy option even in AL-only formats.

The Guardians will have Allard start Wednesday's game against the Dodgers at Progressive Field, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Slade Cecconi had been slated to take the hill Wednesday, but he ended up being scratched while he tends to mild groin tightness. As a result, Allard will be called upon to make his first start of the season in the big leagues, as the 27-year-old lefty has previously made all of his appearances out of the bullpen since getting called up from Triple-A Columbus on April 26. Allard will likely be operating on somewhat of a restricted workload Wednesday, though he did make four starts for Columbus earlier this season and has made six-, four- and three-inning relief appearances for the Guardians over the past month. If he fares well Wednesday and if Cecconi's groin issue is more serious than anticipated and forces him to go on the injured list, Allard could be in line for additional turns through the Cleveland rotation.

Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said that Allard is " definitely an option" to enter the rotation after Ben Lively (forearm) was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Triple-A Columbus lefty Doug Nikhazy and rehabbing right-hander Slade Cecconi (oblique) also represent options to fill the opening in the big-league rotation, but Allard may have the edge since his pitching schedule had been aligned with Lively's. After making four starts for Columbus, Allard has excelled while working in a long-relief role for Cleveland, turning in a 1.20 ERA and 0.87 WHIP over 15 frames. When Lively left his latest start Monday against the Brewers after working just three innings, Allard followed him with three scoreless innings of his own. Since he hasn't tossed more than 52 pitches in any outing in May, Allard could be on a light workload restriction if he's called upon to start when Lively's next turn comes up this weekend in Cincinnati.

The Guardians selected Allard's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
In four starts at Columbus, Allard has turned in a 4.86 ERA and 1.30 WHIP alongside a 13:5 K:BB over 16.2 innings. He'll now join the big-league squad to fill a multi-inning relief role and take the 40-man roster spot of Erik Sabrowski (elbow), who was transferred to the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

The Guardians signed Allard to a minor-league contract Monday that includes an invitation to spring training.
EDGE Analysis
Allard made four starts and three relief appearances for the Phillies in 2024, producing a 5.00 ERA and 23:8 K:BB over 27 innings. In 82 frames with Triple-A Lehigh Valley last season, he held a 5.38 ERA and 74:34 K:BB. Allard will compete for an Opening Day roster spot but is likely headed to Triple-A Columbus where he'll provide rotation depth.

The Phillies outrighted Allard to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
He's no longer on the 40-man roster but will remain in the organization. Allard, 27, held a 5.00 ERA over four starts and three relief appearances with Philadelphia this season.

Allard did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 6-4 win against the Mets, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts over three innings.
EDGE Analysis
In his first start with the Phillies since Aug. 25, Allard threw just 37 of 67 pitches for strikes and departed with a 4-0 deficit. The southpaw owns a 4.29 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across five major-league appearances this season while not exceeding five innings in any of them. He is tentatively lined up for a rematch with the Mets next week, but that could change as the fifth spot in the Phillies' rotation has been a revolving door of late.

The Phillies recalled Allard from Triple-A Lehigh Valley ahead of his start Saturday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Through four appearances (three starts) in the majors this season, Allard has posted a 3.50 ERA and 1.33 WHIP across 18 innings, and he'll now be asked to fill the fifth spot in Philadelphia's rotation following the departure of Seth Johnson from the active roster earlier this week. The 27-year-old Allard will match up against a Mets offense that owns the 10th-best OPS in the majors.

The Phillies will call Allard up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to start in Saturday's game against the Mets, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Phillies will avoid skipping the No. 5 spot in their rotation by calling up Allard to provide a spot start Saturday, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic. Allard has won in each of his last two starts with the big club, and across four major-league outings this season (three starts), the 27-year-old southpaw holds a 2-0 record with a 3.50 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB over 18 innings.
