Senga allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four across 3.2 innings in a start with Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Senga fanned eight over six innings of one-run ball in his first outing after being demoted to Syracuse, so Thursday's performance was a clear step backward. With Syracuse's season ending Sunday, the plan is for Senga to throw either a simulated game or live batting practice session next, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. It's looking unlikely at this point that Senga will be able to show enough to convince the Mets he should be included on their postseason roster, should they qualify.

Senga is expected to make another start at Triple-A Syracuse during the upcoming week, Will Sammon and Tim Britton of The Athletic report.
EDGE Analysis
After accepting a demotion to the minors Sept. 5 following a string of poor outings, Senga shined in his first start with Syracuse this past Friday, striking out eight batters over six innings while allowing one earned run on three hits and no walks. Unless the Mets place a player on a reserve list and recall Senga in a corresponding move, however, the right-hander won't be eligible to join the big club until Sept. 20. With that in mind, he'll stick around at Triple-A and will presumably stay on his typical five days' rest schedule to make his next start Thursday. If all goes well in that outing, Senga will likely rejoin the Mets for the final week of the regular season, but his exact role remains in flux. The Mets are already planning on using Sean Manaea in a piggyback role behind starter Clay Holmes on Tuesday against the Padres as the team transitions from a six-man rotation to a five-man setup during the upcoming week, and Senga could be deployed in a similar capacity as Manaea upon his return to the big club. Rookie Jonah Tong has struggled with both his command and control in his last two starts and may benefit from being used in a tandem when Senga is recalled, if Senga doesn't replace Tong in the rotation outright.

Senga allowed one run on three hits over six innings for Triple-A Syracuse on Friday. He struck out eight without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old right-hander allowed himself to be optioned to the minors to try and get right after stumbling to a 6.56 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 35:22 over his last eight starts and 35.2 innings for the Mets, and Senga's first turn in the Syracuse rotation provided a great deal of hope that he might still be able to boost New York's fading playoff hopes, as he fired 52 of 74 pitches for strikes in an efficient performance. Per Jared Greenspan of MLB.com, the original plan was to have Senga make two starts at Triple-A to get used to some mechanical tweaks before a return to the majors was considered, but with Jonah Tong having been routed by the Rangers on Friday and the Mets' lead over the Giants for the final wild-card spot in the NL having slipped to half a game, the organization may not be able to afford that kind of patience. Absent an IL move to create a spot on the 26-man roster for him, however, Senga isn't eligible to return to the Mets until Sept. 20.

The Mets optioned Senga to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Senga has struggled since the All-Star break, posting a 0-3 record, a 6.56 ERA and a 35:22 K:BB across eight starts spanning 35.2 innings. Amid Senga's struggles, manager Carlos Mendoza hinted Sunday that the Mets could look elsewhere for starts as they push for a playoff spot. Not only will Senga lose his spot in the rotation, but he's also agreed to a demotion as he tries to regain his form. Wander Suero will join the big-league club in a corresponding move. Per Andy Martino of SNY.tv, the Mets are hoping to recall Senga after a couple starts with Syracuse, though that will depend on how he fares.

Senga might be removed from the rotation as the Mets try to hang onto a playoff spot in September, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. "We're going to have some discussion about what's next for him," manager Carlos Mendoza said after Sunday's loss to the Marlins, in which Senga coughed up five runs in 4.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old right-hander hasn't been able to regain his form since returning from a hamstring injury just before the All-Star break, and things were particularly grim for Senga in August as he stumbled to a 6.18 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 27:14 K:BB over six starts and 27.2 innings. The Mets should get Tylor Megill (elbow) back from the IL next week and are trying to find a spot for rookie phenom Jonah Tong, so they have the depth to bump Senga from the rotation until he shows signs of turning things around. New York currently sits six games back of Philadelphia in the NL East, and four games ahead of Cincinnati for the final wild-card spot in the Senior Circuit.

Senga (7-6) yielded five runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings Sunday, striking out six and taking a loss against Miami.
EDGE Analysis
Senga never settled into a groove Sunday and was chased after just 75 pitches (43 strikes). Four of the five runs against him came after the second inning, including Agustin Ramirez's two-run shot in the third. Senga went into the All-Star break with a stellar 1.39 ERA, but he's since produced a 6.56 ERA over 35.2 innings. He's allowed at least three earned runs in six of his last eight outings, and he hasn't turned in a quality start since June 6. Senga will carry a 3.02 ERA into his next matchup, which is projected to be in Cincinnati next weekend.

Senga didn't factor into the decision against the Phillies on Monday, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four over four innings.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander struggled with command and traffic on the bases again Monday, needing 93 pitches to get through four frames. Since the All-Star break, Senga has yet to record a win or complete six innings in any outing, posting a 6.10 ERA with a 29:20 K:BB across 31 innings in the second half. The 32-year-old is set to face the Marlins when he takes the mound again.

Senga (7-5) took the loss Wednesday, surrendering five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks over five innings as the Mets fell 5-4 to the Nationals. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander served up a homer for the sixth straight start since the All-Star break, as Josh Bell took him deep in the fifth inning. Over that stretch, Senga has gone 0-2 with a shaky 5.23 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 29:19 K:BB in 31 innings, and he hasn't completed six innings in any of those outings. He'll try to find his form in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home early next week in a crucial NL East clash with the Phillies.

Senga didn't factor into the decision Thursday against Atlanta, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk across 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Senga nearly submitted his first quality start in seven appearances, but he was pulled at 93 pitches with two outs in the sixth frame. Still, it was a step in the right direction for the 32-year-old, as he had allowed at least three runs in each of his last four starts and walked 14 batters during that span. His seven Ks tied a season high. In 19 appearances, Senga has a 2.35 ERA and a 95:48 K:BB across 99.2 innings. He's on track to face the Nationals in his next start.

Senga (7-4) took the loss Friday against the Brewers, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Senga cruised through four scoreless innings to begin his outing but ran himself into a bases-loaded jam during the fifth, but reliever Brooks Raley was able to help limit the damage after Senga was lifted earlier in the frame. The two punchouts were the fewest of the season for Senga, who has now also lent at least three free passes in each of his last four outings. The 32-year-old right-hander still has a strong 2.30 ERA for the campaign, but his 88:47 K:BB through 94 frames is somewhat of a concern. He'll try to sharpen his control at home against Atlanta in his next scheduled appearance.
