McCarty signed with the CTBC Brothers of the Chinese Professional Baseball League on Tuesday.

McCarty (4-2) allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk while striking out three over three innings to earn the win in extra innings over the Twins in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.

McCarty was the last man up in the Guardians' bullpen, pitching the 13th through 15th innings. The lone run he allowed came on a Nick Gordon sacrifice fly in the 13th, but Amed Rosario tied the game with an RBI single and then forced an error for the walkoff in the 15th. Through four outings in September, McCarty's covered 9.1 innings, allowing just two runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks. The southpaw has a 4.55 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 21:12 K:BB through 31.2 innings this season, but he appears on track to finish the year in good form.

McCarty (3-2) earned the victory Tuesday over the Angels, striking out one and allowing a hit in 3.1 relief innings.

McCarty entered the game in the fourth inning with two outs and two on and induced a pop-up to end the inning. After allowing a single to begin the fifth, he retired the final nine batters he faced. In eight appearances -- two starts -- for Cleveland this season he's completed 27.2 frames and thrown at least three innings in seven of those outings. He's likely to continue in a multi-inning role and may get called upon again in Saturday's doubleheader against Minnesota.

McCarthy was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Guardians lost a pair of starters (Zach Plesac and Aaron Civale) to the injured list, so McCarthy will probably take the bullpen place of Cody Morris, who is elevated to the rotation. He could potentially come in to piggyback either Morris (starting Friday) or Xzavion Curry (likely starting Saturday). McCarthy has a 6.04 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 22.1 innings across six MLB appearances.
