Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Kevin Gausman turned in a solid start on Friday against the Marlins, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. He is slated to face a tough Nationals matchup on [...]

Kevin Gausman Can't Go Five In Loss rotoballer.com Thu 5/17/18 6:45 PM

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Kevin Gausman was not on point on Thursday night in Boston. He went 4 2/3 innings and gave up six runs, all earned. He did strike out six, but he also walked two. The bad night bumped his ERA up to 3.88 - he'd been fairly consistent before this game. He'll likely go next in the middle game of Baltimore's series in Chicago against the White Sox. The ChiSox have been even more putrid than the O's, so he'd be a good start then.

Kevin Gausman Is Hard- Luck Loser In Duel rotoballer.com Mon 4/23/18 6:03 PM

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Kevin Gausman had a strong game on April 23. He went eight innings and struck out seven. The righty gave up two runs. Unfortunately, Carlos Carrasco only gave up a run in 7 1/3 innings and the O's bats were helpless against the Tribe bullpen. The start has to be encouraging for Gausman, though. Let's hope he carries it over the next time he toes the rubber, which should be on April 28 against the Tigers.

If you had Baltimore Orioles starter Kevin Gausman in your lineup on Wednesday, you got pretty good results -- six-plus innings of two-run ball with both runs earned along with four strikeouts and no walks. He didn't get the win or any decision, as a matter of fact. Still, he managed to do well against a Tigers lineup that featured birthday boy Miguel Cabrera. His next start will be against the Indians at home.

It has become a trend among starting pitchers with one dominant pitch to throw it earlier in counts and to throw it more often. This defies conventional baseball wisdom, but several starting pitchers have found or recaptured success by featuring breaking balls more heavily. Rich Hill, fighting for his baseball life, began using his curveball more and at different speeds in his late-30s to go from journeyman reliever to frontline starter. Chris Archer's slider usage has gone up every season si[...]

Kevin Gausman Has Ghastly First Start Of The Season rotoballer.com Sun 4/1/18 10:25 AM

Baltimore Orioles starter Kevin Gausman was in trouble from the very first pitch that he threw on Sunday. It was crushed for a homer and it didn't get any better. By the time Buck Showalter removed him after the fourth inning, Gausman had given up six runs on seven hits, three of which were homers. He follows a similarly bad outing from Andrew Cashner. It's early in the season, but it gives fantasy owners another reason to look side-eyed at any Baltimore starting pitcher not named Dylan Bundy.
