Week 16 Waiver Wire: H2H Category Streamers rotoballer.com Fri 7/20/18 8:11 AM

I like to consider myself a pioneer of the streaming approach. I won a league about seven years ago completely ignoring saves and just stacking up the starts each week. While streaming is undoubtedly more directly associated with pitching, there's plenty of value in streaming for offense as well. Maybe you have a stacked roster and you can't drop anyone. But for those of us with a couple of guys on the roster fringes, it's never too early to look into targeting a specific player or two to gai[...]

Orioles Listening To Offers On Walk-Year Players rotoballer.com Tue 7/17/18 9:10 AM

The Baltimore Orioles, who are clearly about to trade shortstop Manny Machado, could also listen to offers for starting pitchers Kevin Gausman and Dylan Bundy and second baseman Jonathan Schoop. "I think their goal is to trade their walk-year guys Machado, Britton, [Brad] Brach and Adam Jones, but they are not hanging up the phone if you ask on [Kevin] Gausman or [Dylan] Bundy or [Jonathan] Schoop," an executive said. [...]

Statcast Pitcher Risers/Fallers - Statcast Scoreboard (Week 16) rotoballer.com Tue 7/17/18 3:45 AM

Welcome back to Rotoballer's series using Statcast to extrapolate, dig into, and commiserate over data to examine pitching performances. The weekly series will be dynamic as we fine-tune our findings and enlighten ourselves on the information and tools at our disposal. It's All-Star Week so rather than approaching the column in typical fashion, we'll use this edition for reflection, savoring and reprimanding yours truly for my calls to-date. It's been an immensely fun and rewarding exercise t[...]

Kevin Gausman Gets Knocked Around Versus Phillies rotoballer.com Thu 7/12/18 6:15 PM

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Kevin Gausman did not have his best stuff on Thursday night. Gausman gave up a whopping 12 hits in just five innings, also allowing five runs with just two strikeouts. His ERA now stands at a disappointing 4.33, and while he has arguably been the Orioles best pitcher, that's not saying much for one of the worst teams in recent baseball history. Unless it's a favorable matchup, try to avoid starting Gausman.

Strikeout Rate Risers and Fallers for Week 15: Buy or Sell? rotoballer.com Mon 7/9/18 3:00 AM

Due to a combination of harder throwers and hitters focusing on hitting for power, strikeouts are at an all-time high in baseball. For pitchers, this is an ideal trend. The ability to generate swings and misses is the most important skill to possess, as it's the only true way to control what happens after the pitch is thrown and eliminate the randomness that the ballpark, fielders, weather, and luck can play. The stat is equally important for fantasy players. Not only are strikeouts a categor[...]

Week 15 Waiver Wire Watch List rotoballer.com Sat 7/7/18 3:45 AM

The dog days of summer are upon us - at least in the fantasy baseball world. If you're deep in the hole it takes a lot of effort and discipline to stay focused but it's important to remember there's still time to make up ground whether you're in a rotisserie or head-to-head league. There's plenty of help out there on the waiver wire and it all starts by identifying players of interest and tracking their progress. If you've been following along with this column all season, you would have been [...]
