Morales announced his retirement from baseball Friday, Marly Rivera of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Morales calls it quits after failing to stick with the Athletics or Yankees last season. The 36-year-old spent parts of 13 seasons in the big leagues, appearing for the aforementioned teams in addition to the Angels, Mariners, Twins, Royals and Blue Jays. He'll finish with 213 homers, 740 RBI, 1,289 hits and a .265/.327/.453 slash line. He won a World Series with the Royals in 2015.

Morales was officially released by the Yankees on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Morales returned from the injured list last week and was immediately designated for assignment, and now his time as a Yankee officially comes to an end. The veteran slugger's move from Oakland in May did nothing to improve his numbers as he slashed .177/.320/.242 over 19 games with New York.

Morales (calf) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and promptly designated for assignment.
EDGE Analysis
Morales did very little during his time in New York, hitting .177/.320/.242 over 19 games. Anything he could have done for the Yankees can be done much better by Edwin Encarnacion, whom the team acquired while Morales was out injured. Whether or not Morales can find another big-league job remains to be seen.

Morales (calf) fielded grounders Wednesday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Morales, who resumed hitting earlier in the week, continues to make steady progress in his return from a strained left calf. While the veteran slugger isn't expected to remain sidelined for much longer, he'll likely be designated for assignment once healthy following the Yankees' acquisition of Edwin Encarnacion, per Randy Miller of The Newark Star-Ledger.

Morales (calf) is not expected to spend significantly more than 10 days on the injured list, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Morales landed on the injured list Thursday with a left calf strain, but it doesn't sound like his stay on the shelf will be an extended one. The veteran slugger is eligible to return June 22; Giancarlo Stanton (shoulder) may be back before then, however, which would push Morales to a bench role upon his return.

Morales was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left calf strain.
EDGE Analysis
The severity of the injury is not yet known, but Morales will be out of commission until at least June 22 following this move. With Aaron Judge (oblique) and Giancarlo Stanton (shoulder) both somewhat close to returning from injuries of their own, Morales may not have a role to come back to. Nestor Cortes was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take his place on the roster.

Morales is not in the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Morales sits despite going 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI in the first game of the day. Gary Sanchez will serve as the designated hitter in his absence.

Morales went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI as the Yankees defeated the Mets 12-5 in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Serving as the first baseman, Morales had just his second multi-hit day since being acquired by the Yankees on May 14. He had been only 8-for-57 with New York coming into Tuesday's game, and even with the big day has just a .194 batting average for the season.

Morales is not starting Monday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Morales sits for the second straight game, with Clint Frazier again serving as the designated hitter. Didi Gregorius' return from Tommy John surgery has crowded the Yankees' roster, and Morales could be the one to lose out the most. It's hard to argue that he deserves more playing time, as he owns a .182/.306/.236 slash line in. 2019 with just two home runs.

Morales is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Indians, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Clint Frazier will step in as the Yankees' designated hitter after Morales started each of the previous four games. Though he continues to receive fairly steady action, Morales has yet to get going at the dish since being acquired from the Athletics on May 14. Through his first 70 plate appearances with the Yankees, Morales has slashed .140/.300/.193.
