Giles entered Wednesday's game in a non-save situation in the eighth inning, allowing one run on two hits and a walk over an inning of relief while striking out one.
EDGE Analysis
The run ended up being costly -- without it, the Jays would have tied the game in the top of the ninth -- but it was at least encouraging to see Giles back on the mound. Assuming he's over the nerve irritation in his elbow that had kept him on the shelf since July 4, the right-hander should resume his closing duties for Toronto, although trade rumors continue to circle him.

Giles (elbow) said he's good to go for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Giles will be available out of the bullpen Wednesday after experiencing no issues during a 20-pitch bullpen session Tuesday. Manager Charlie Montoyo said he's open to using Giles on back-to-back days, as long as the closer feels good about it. Through 31 appearances this season, Giles owns a stellar 1.45 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 53:9 K:BB to go along with 13 saves.

Giles (elbow) won't be available to throw Tuesday against the Red Sox, but he will be ready to pitch Wednesday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giles felt great following Tuesday's 20-pitch bullpen session, though the Blue Jays will hold him out of one more contest before allowing him to pitch in a game. He's posted a stellar 1.45 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 53 punchouts over 31 innings this season.

Giles (elbow) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Tuesday and "felt great," Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports. He may be available to pitch Tuesday night against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Giles has been held out so far in the second half due to nerve inflammation in his elbow, but he appears to be ready to return after Tuesday's side session went off without a hitch. The Blue Jays have yet to confirm Giles' availability, however.

Giles (elbow) resumed throwing off flat ground Monday but won't be available in relief in the Blue Jays' series opener with the Red Sox, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giles has yet to make an appearance in the second half after experiencing nerve inflammation in his elbow following a recent massage, but Toronto remains optimistic that the closer will avoid a trip to the injured list. Though the hard-throwing righty admitted he felt rusty while playing catch Monday, he reported no physical issues during the workout. Giles could take another step forward Tuesday by completing a bullpen session, which could be enough for the Blue Jays to clear him for game action.

Giles will be unavailable for Sunday's game against the Yankees while he deals with nerve inflammation in his right elbow, Alexis Brudnicki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giles apparently developed the injury after receiving a massage over the All-Star break and went unused in Saturday's 2-1 win, even though a save opportunity was available. Daniel Hudson stepped in to record the final four outs of the contest en route to notching his second save, but it's unclear if he'll be the top option at the back end of the bullpen Sunday after tossing 35 pitches. The Blue Jays are calling Giles' injury a day-to-day issue and hope he'll avoid a trip to the 10-day injury list.

Giles will not undergo an MRI on his sore right elbow, Gregor Chisholm of the Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giles was unavailable during a save situation Saturday against the Yankees due to a minor issue stemming from a massage he received over the All-Star break. He downplayed the issue, calling it, "Nothing serious. Just a little fatigue." He's considered day-to-day.

Giles is day-to-day with nerve inflammation in his elbow that he apparently suffered while getting a massage over the All-Star break, Gregor Chisholm of the Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
We should be skeptical of the Blue Jays' claim that Giles is day-to-day, given the nature and location of the injury and the fact that Toronto would probably like to trade their closer before the deadline if possible. The Blue Jays had a save situation Saturday, and Daniel Hudson picked up the save, but not before he allowed a run on two hits and a walk in 1.1 innings.

Giles took the loss against the Red Sox on Thursday, pitching one inning and giving up one run on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter.
EDGE Analysis
Giles came on in the ninth inning with the score tied 7-7 and served up a one-out solo home run to Marco Hernandez to suffer the loss. Despite the disappointing outing, the 28-year-old has been among the most steady closers in baseball this season, converting 13 of 14 save opportunities while maintaining a 1.45 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 53:9 K:BB in 31 innings.

Giles struck out one without allowing a baserunner to earn the save Wednesday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Giles was called upon to protect a three-run lead in the ninth inning and had little trouble doing so to record his 13th save of the campaign. After needing seven pitches to strike out Christian Vazquez, Giles made quick work of Jackie Bradley and Michael Chavis to close out the contest. Giles continues to pitch well, as he now has a 1.20 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 52 strikeouts across 30 innings for the season.
