Giles (elbow) played catch Sunday and felt good enough that the Blue Jays will hold off on placing him on the injured list, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Jays had Billy McKinney up in case they had to make the move with Giles, but the closer was able to stave off such a transaction. It is unclear if he is available for Sunday's game, but in theory he should be available to enter a game in the coming days. Derek Law could be an option to get saves if Giles is unavailable or lands on the shelf.

Manager Charlie Montoyo said Giles' arm "isn't bouncing back" as expected and a trip to the injured list is being considered, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giles received a cortisone shot at the end of July to address right elbow inflammation and he apparently isn't fully past the issue. It doesn't sound as though the 28-year-old has necessarily suffered a setback, but he clearly isn't recovering as planned from what was described as a minor injury. Even if Giles is able to avoid a trip to the shelf, he seems unlikely to be available for the next couple of days.

Giles allowed two earned runs on three hits while striking out two across an inning to earn the save Wednesday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Giles was able to hold onto a three-run lead to earn his 15th save of the season, but he was unconvincing in doing so. After retiring the leadoff hitter, Giles allowed a single followed by a two-run home run by Mike Zunino to trim the lead to one. He was able to strike out two of the final three batters he faced to close the game, though it was the first time since April 11 that he allowed multiple earned runs in an outing. Given his strong 1.95 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 61 strikeouts across 37 innings, there's no major reason for concern unless it becomes apparent that his recent return from an elbow injury was premature.

Giles is not yet cleared to pitch in back-to-back games, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giles got back on the mound Sunday after missing a brief period with elbow inflammation, an injury which prevented him from being traded at the deadline. He wasn't available Monday for that reason but will be available if called upon in Tuesday's contest.

Giles (elbow) tossed a scoreless eighth inning in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Orioles, allowing no hits and a walk and striking out a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The appearance was Giles' first since July 27 while he missed time due to right elbow inflammation. Concerns over Giles' health ultimately killed his trade value prior to Wednesday's deadline, but now that he's back in action again, he should immediately reclaim his role as Toronto's closer. Giles has been one of the top endgamers throughout the campaign, converting 14 of 15 save chances while supplying a 1.54 ERA and 58:11 K:BB over 35 innings.

Giles (elbow) should be available out of the bullpen Sunday against the Orioles, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
He threw 15 pitches off a mound Saturday, which Davidi thinks will be the final step in his rehab from elbow inflammation. This was the first time he threw off a mound since getting a cortisone shot earlier in the week.

Giles (elbow) played catch Thursday, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Charlie Montoyo said Giles felt great in what was his first throwing session since receiving a cortisone shot in his elbow earlier in the week. The skipper noted Giles could return to action Sunday or Monday if all goes as planned over the next couple of days.

An MRI revealed no structural damage to Giles' elbow Tuesday, but the closer was given a cortisone shot, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giles won't throw for another two days. He's one of the more obvious trade candidates out there, but the elbow issues could certainly give other teams pause. There haven't been any suggestions that the injury is a particularly worrisome one, but teams are always wise to be wary when it comes to pitchers' elbows. There remains a chance that the injury lowers Giles' price to the point that the Blue Jays elect to wait until the offseason to move him.

Giles was unavailable to pitch Monday night against the Royals due to elbow inflammation, Gregor Chisholm of the Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the trade deadline approaching later in the week, the Blue Jays will likely exercise caution with Giles, especially considering the amount of interest he's drawing from other teams around the league. However, there's certainly a chance the injury could scare away possible suitors. Skipper Charlie Montoyo said he's not sure if Giles will be available to pitch Tuesday evening, per Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca.

Giles struck out the side while allowing one hit during the ninth inning to nail down a save in a 7-5 victory against the Tigers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
While he hasn't posted very many saves pitching for the Blue Jays, Giles has been highly effective in other categories including strikeouts. This was the seventh time this season Giles struck out three batters in one appearance. He has 57 punchouts along with a 1.64 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 33 frames this season. Giles is also 1-2 and 14-for-15 in save opportunities.
