Misner remains in a strong-side platoon role with Jonny DeLuca (shoulder) sidelined, although Richie Palacios (finger) appears to be nearing a return. Nonetheless, Misner is reaching base consistently, collecting at least one hit in eight of his 10 starts. Most impressively, Misner has struck out at just a 16.3 percent clip after striking out at around a 30 percent rate in the upper levels of the minors.

Misner has started four straight games in the absence of Josh Lowe (oblique), starting at each outfield spot in that span. He started slowly offensively but now has one hit in each of the last two games while driving in three and recording a double. Misner should continue to slot into a large-side platoon role for as long as Lowe is sidelined.

Misner had been on track to begin the season in the minors after being optioned to Triple-A last Wednesday, but a spot on the Rays' Opening Day roster opened up for him after Richie Palacios suffered a fractured ring finger that will send him to the injured list. With Christopher Morel, Jonny DeLuca and Josh Lowe seemingly locked in as the Rays' preferred starting outfield trio against right-handed pitching, the lefty-hitting Misner likely won't be in line for many at-bats to begin the season.

EDGE Analysis
Along with Jake Mangum and Chandler Simpson, Misner was one of three players vying for a backup outfield role that was sent to the minors Wednesday. Misner saw action in eight games with Tampa Bay in 2024 but otherwise spent the entire season at Durham, where he slashed .248/.360/.442 with 17 home runs and 30 stolen bases over 519 plate appearances.

It's the first major-league promotion for Misner, who has slashed .247/.356/.446 with 15 home runs and 27 stolen bases with Durham this season. Misner, 26, also has a 30.1 percent strikeout rate with Durham, and swings and misses have been a problem for him throughout pro ball. He's capable of handling all three outfield spots but it's unclear how much Misner will play.

Misner was acquired by the Rays from the Marlins on Tuesday in exchange for infielder Joey Wendle, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Misner was drafted 35th overall by Miami in 2019, and he was able to make his way to the Double-A level late last season. He was one of the organizations top prospects and spent most of the 2021 campaign at High-A, where he hit .244/.350/.424 with 11 homers, 22 doubles, 56 RBI, 58 runs and 23 stolen bases in 88 games.
