CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Juan Rincon has signed with the Somerset Patriots of the independent Atlantic League. Heyman reported last month that Rincon threw for a few teams in Florida, but apparently he didn't draw much interest around MLB. The 35-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010, but will attempt to keep his career alive.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Juan Rincon has thrown for a few teams in Florida. Rincon, now 35, hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010 and spent last year in independent ball, but he's looking to make a comeback. It's unclear whether any teams will take a chance on him, but he'll almost certainly have to settle for a minor league deal.

Juan Rincon intends to work out soon for MLB teams. Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reported back in November that Rincon was drawing interest and intended to pitch in 2014. The 34-year-old right-hander hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010 and spent last year in independent ball.

Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that Juan Rincon is drawing interest from MLB teams and intends to pitch in 2014. The 34-year-old right-hander hasn't appeared in the majors since a two-inning stint with the Rockies during the 2010 season. He spent 2013 in the Independent League, where he posted a 3.26 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 43/19 K/BB ratio over 47 innings. He'll undoubtedly have to settle for a minor league deal and spring training invite, but represents a nice low-risk signing.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that Juan Rincon has opted out of his minor league deal with the Angels. Rincon posted a 3.12 ERA in 17 games at Triple-A Salt Lake, even making three starts. He'll look to latch on elsewhere with a team looking for relief depth.

Angels signed RHP Juan Rincon to a minor league contract. It's actually a split contract which doesn't include an invite to spring training. Rincon pitched for Bridgeport Bluefish of the independent Atlantic League last season and hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2010 as a member of the Rockies. The 33-year-old right-hander will serve as minor league depth.
