Nicasio is in the early stages of recovering from a clean-up procedure on his knee and is expected to be ready for spring training, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever battled bone chips and swelling in his right knee on two separate occasions this season, finally opting for surgery to address the issue in late August. Nicasio flashed excellent strikeout upside and control in 2018 on his way to a 53:5 K:BB, but a trio of relief outings which he allowed at least three earned runs helped lead to a 6.00 ERA.

Nicasio (knee) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Nicasio is scheduled to undergo season-ending knee surgery in the coming days. This move frees up a spot on the team's 40-man roster for Dan Altavilla, who was activated from the 60-day DL in a corresponding move.

Nicasio is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on his right knee in the upcoming days, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Per Corey Brock of The Athletic Seattle, Nicasio's surgery is characterized as a cleanup procedure to address inflammation in his knee, so he should make a full recovery by the time spring training opens. The 31-year-old had been sidelined since Aug. 2 due to the latest setback with his knee, which also resulted in a DL stint in June. Nicasio will finish up his first season in Seattle with 19 holds and a 6.00 ERA (3.03 FIP), 1.38 WHIP and 53:5 K:BB across 42 frames.

Nicasio (knee) remains unsure of whether he'll have surgery to repair bone chips and inflammation in his right knee or wait until after the season for the procedure, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nicasio went for a second opinion on Monday, but it apparently did little to help him reach a consensus on his course of action. Given that the knee issues have been a near season-long problem, the veteran may ultimately opt to get the matter rectified as soon as possible. For his part, manager Scott Servais is hopeful that he can have Nicasio available to him during the stretch run, emphasizing that expanded September rosters could be pivotal in allowing him to use the right-hander more judiciously and therefore limit the strain on his knee.

Nicasio (knee) was slated to get a second opinion on his inflamed right knee Monday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nicasio hit the disabled list Aug. 3 with a recurrence of the knee swelling he'd experienced earlier in the season, and he's been without a timetable for return since. The veteran right-hander has logged 42 innings across 46 appearances thus far this season in a setup role behind closer Edwin Diaz, compiling 19 holds but also taking six losses and blowing six save opportunities along the way. More information on Nicasio's status is likely to be available in the coming days, with the possibility that he's officially shut down for the rest of the season still in play.

Nicasio (knee), who went on the disabled list Friday, doesn't have a firm timetable for return, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports. "I don't know," Servais said of a potential return. "Juan is frustrated. He hasn't felt good and wants to make it right. I certainly think he could come back and impact this year down the stretch, but I don't know."
EDGE Analysis
Servais went as far as speculating that Nicasio may not return during the regular season. The veteran reliever's right knee has been problematic prior to his current disabled list stint, as it put him on the shelf for 10 days back in June. Nicasio's first Seattle season has been somewhat of a mixed bag, as he's managed to generate an unlikely combination of a 6.00 ERA and 53:5 K:BB over 46 appearances.

Nicasio was placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday due to right knee inflammation, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear as to when Nicasio started to feel symptoms, but he'll move to the shelf for at least 10 days. The 31-year-old has accrued a 6.00 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 53 strikeouts over 42 innings as a reliever in 2018. Chasen Bradford was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move.

Nicasio (1-5) allowed an earned run on one hit -- a game-winning solo home run -- in an extra-inning loss to the Angels on Friday. He also recorded a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Nicasio saw Kole Calhoun, the first batter he faced in the home half of the 10th, tag him for a 401-foot solo shot to right center that ended the contest. It marked the fourth time in eight July appearances that Nicasio has given up an earned run, which has led to a 5.14 ERA across 7.0 innings during the month. The veteran has also been charged with a pair of blown saves in addition to Friday's loss over that stretch, so he's been a bit of a rollercoaster for both manager Scott Servais and his fantasy owners. Despite his inconsistencies, Nicasio continues to see plenty of work, as his 40.0 innings this season rank behind only closer Edwin Diaz (51.0 innings) among Seattle's full-time relievers.

Nicasio picked up his first save of 2018, needing just seven pitches in a perfect 10th inning in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Edwin Diaz had picked up a save in each of the last three days, so he wasn't available for Thursday's contest. Nicasio is now 1-for-5 in save opportunities this season and they should continue coming few and far between with Diaz's dominance. The 31-year-old owns an ugly 6.19 ERA despite a very strong 40:3 K:BB in 32 innings.

Nicasio, who was activated from the disabled list Monday, fired a scoreless inning in which he recorded a strikeout during a Wednesday loss to the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
The 31-year-old had dealt with some swelling in his knee recently, prompting the 10-day DL stay. Wednesday marked his first appearance since being activated, and Nicasio looked much sharper than his previous time on the mound. That outing had come June 6 against the Astros and apparently transpired at the height of Nicasio's knee problems, as he was officially sidelined the following day. That stumble notwithstanding, Nicasio had arguably been in the midst of one of his best stretches of pitching of the season at the time of his injury, as he'd generated eight consecutive scoreless efforts before failing to record an out against the four Houston batters he faced.
